trigger problem

I have a smith wesson model 64-5 .38 special, one of the ny-1's that j&g was selling. the gun itself is in perfect condition, lockup is tightest I've felt on any s&w, and it shoots my standard .38 loads better than my 66-1.

problem is the trigger is smooth up to the end, where there is a noticeable step in it. upon inspection it looks as if the problem is in the hand. on all my other s&w's while the trigger is being pulled the hand goes up then stops when the trigger breaks. this one does also but the trigger will "overtravel" and the hand will go back into the action-none of my others do this. if you open the cylinder and hold back the release and cycle the action this step does not occur.

could this be a side effect of the DAO mechanism?

also the trigger return is rather not so smooth even with factory spring.
