What is a normal trigger pull weight on a Uberti Colt Walker? I recently acquired a used Uberti Colt Waker from a local pawn shop. The trigger pull weight is around 2 lbs. as measure on my Lyman trigger pull scale. In the hand, it doesn't take much at all to drop the hammer, only a light touch. This seems too light to me as I would prefer around a 4 pound trigger.

Is there a way to increase to pull weight on these guns?

By the way, I'm usually very good about inspecting guns before purchasing, but not being familiar cap and ball guns, I missed the fact that the previous owner had buggered up the barrel lug that mates to the frame on this specimen. Now I'm concerned he did his own trigger job as well resulting in a too light trigger. I ended up buying a replacement barrel and wedge and tightening the wedge slot by adding a brass shim. Now, all seems well except the trigger weight.

I have a new ( 2010 ) Uberti 1851 Navy and the trigger has been getting lighter every time I take it out to the range,I am concerned about safety now and may have to do a "reverse" trigger job on it. I had trouble with this gun from the start...had to send it back under warranty due to it locking up solid for no apparent reason, turned out the cylinder bolt would engage when the hammer was let down on an empty chamber.
I think the trigger mechanism is wearing out on mine from use, it now has a "hair" trigger which is un-nerving to say the least. I am going to take it apart again and see what is going on in there, it is probably filthy in there anyway.

Could be a trigger sear/hammer that was not properly hardened, or lost its hardening when someone stoned it. The angles will wear and you'll get a lighter and lighter trigger.

Might try buying a replacement trigger (sear). They are cheap. That would be an easy check, short of having a pro who knows how to do trigger jobs on single actions look at it.
