He is clearly trying to avoid a normal operation...

I think you might want to stay out of the conversation. He did not claim that he trimmed straight walled cases. Most people don't.

Just as much as someone asking if there is a faster way to get from California to Florida than walking. He isn’t trying to avoid the operation or even change the end result, just make it less work. Kind of like a car in the above example would beat your feet and a plane would beat the car. All would get you to the same spot with variances in time and cost but you would be in the same start and finish positions with all of them.

I can hand trim a case in my Forster trimmer and it come out at the correct length or in the same time, I can trim 10 on a progressive with a trimmer, without even having to touch a case and they all are also the correct length.

If you are one of those guys that thinks everything has to be a laborious drawn out manual process in order for “something” to be good, your not always going to be right.

No one is talking about trimming straight walled cases, this why they are less work to load.

Jmorris, you must have gotten reasonably good scores on your reading comprehension tests in school.

If he has been doing this by a hand trimmer he needs to at least move to one of the press mounted trimmers with a 3 way cutter. This alone will be faster than measuring them. But you still need to handle the brass by hand. With a good cutter they will trim as fast as you can feed them.
