takin' the fam to FL to visit Granma over spring break with our Bush bucks...:):)

Maine doesn't recognize FL carry permits, so FL won't recognize Maine.

FL does recognize NH, but only NH res. permits.....mine is non-res.

So....

FL web. site says up to 90 days for a permit....and though their mailing me the app., I don't think it can get processed in time.

If I pony up an exta ~$50, I can get finger prints taken local and digitally sent, which is supposed to knock down the processing time significantly. But I'd hate to spend all that $$ and not have it when I need it.

So, if I understand correctly, I can have my piece 'cased' in the car in FL w/out a carry permit. And 'cased' can be in the glove box, or even in a holster secured with a snap.

Of course my only holster doesn't have a snap.

and ....

my MOL will not be comfortable seeing me put my piece in and out of the glove box.

What to do?

any ideas?

No, digital prints for Florida CWP can only be done in Florida.

So long as that snap holster is not on your person.

Even if you did digital prints, my ccw took 6 weeks even with digital prints even though they said max of 4...

Replace holster with one with snap closure. Replace MOL with one more comfortable with guns... or at least with snap closure. :neener:

Sorry, couldn't resist...

How keeping it in a range type bag? Could I carry the bag to and from the car, and then keep it next to me in the car with the top zipped.

Replace MOL with one more comfortable with guns...

my MOL is a truely wonderful lady.....and she knows full well that all of the men in her family carry.

but she's very "sensitive" ... kind of like people who faint at the sight of blood :what:

mine came back in 87 days....i downloaded the forms off their website and mailed them...my wife's came back in around 50-60 days...sent at the same time...good luck

It only took me four weeks to get mine. I had my prints done digitally in late January and got it in the mail on February 19th.

Securely encased, BTW, means that you must either have it in a glovebow or center console (whether or not locked - and it CAN be loaded), snap-in holster (not on person, CAN be loaded), in a sealed tupperware (again, CAN be loaded), in a closed gun case (whether or not locked - CAN be loaded), or in a zipper thingy (CAN be loaded).

Hope this helps. :)

The first thing to do is telephone the Florida department that issues permits, explain the situation, and ask for advice about expediting the permit. I don't know if it can be done but if so they will tell you. My own experience is that they are friendly people who try to be helpful.
