well i know the pistols are junk but i know the carbines are reliable. i been wanting one of those ugly things for awhile but i cant find a site that has them in stock.

most sites dont sell em but the ones that do are out of stock.

a little help please.

Back on Father's Day, I decided to buy myself a .40 carbine. Local store had 'em on sale, but didn't have any and couldn't get any. I called Hi-Point, and they told me they were having troubles with a vendor for carbine parts, and their production was at a standstill. They weren't expecting a resolution to the problem until after the first of 2009. Might call 'em and ask the status.

Back to the local store, they checked their other stores and found a large stash of .40's and 9mm carbines at a store on the other side of the state. I begged and wheedled, and they sent a manager to that store to transfer a bunch to our store. For some reason they were required to do it in person, couldn't just ship them. So, I bought a .40 for me and a 9mm for the grandson. But, AFAIK, they're getting scarce, until production kicks back in.

They're ugly bastards, but great shooters and lots of fun, I hope you find one. You might call the Big R in Elizabeth, CO, at 303-646-6936, ask for Sporting Goods, and see if they'll ship one to your FFL. I just got a flyer from them and all Hi-Points are on sale.

And from what I hear, the pistols aren't junk either, just ugly, bulky and heavy, but supposedly great shooters too. Not something you'd want to CCW though.

Did you try SOG 1.800.944.4867? They are selling them for $160.00 to FFL holders. If you don't have an FFL maybe one in your area could order you one.

Their pistols aren't junk, they're just ugly and heavy. Other than that, they function just fine.
Sorry I can't be of more help, but I think your best bet is GunBroker

Used hi points are easy to find. People buy them cause they are cheap and then want to upgrade...So,

I've got a few of the pistols stashed away for bartering puropses should SHTF. That may be a great investment. Certain to be worth more than the 40-75 bucks I paid for each one.
The carbine's are fun, when I got an Acog for my SIG 556, i put the little sig holo sight on the carbine and it's great. Out to about 75 yards its hard to miss if you put the red dot on the target!

is a used one worth it?i found one at the local pawnshop for 230$ it has some surface rust on the receiver

is a used one worth it?i found one at the local pawnshop for 230

If the price is right (200 or less) and you don't mind waiting for factory service and shipping, buy any condition Hi-Point 995 just to take advantage of the transferrable lifetime warranty.

Stories abound of people buying broken 995s or getting them for free and then shipping them off to the factory...then they come back like new or completely replaced.

Can't find one for love nor money. New or used. Folks down here (and across the border) like 'em too much. In fact, I've only seen two of the pistols in the last year, and both of them sold while I was in the store! Popular, cheap, reliable little guns!

I just bought a new 995 from a dealer on gunbroker/auction arms for $164. But any FFL you can find should be able to get one for around $170. The 995 is around everywhere and it can easily be ordered so do not overpay.

dunhams carries them and always has them in stock around here

Pro mag makes a 15 rounder that gets poor reviews. i am in NY so it does not matter to me that they only have 10 rd factory mags available. This is a no-go for some though. The 10 rounds Hi Point mags are fairly cheap though and readily available.
