Hi all

I recently picked up a Hi-Point 995 carbine (chrome, no less!) that still wears the old POTA (Planet Of The Apes) stock. It fits me nicely and looks fine (to me) but it's worn out and the two halves don't fit together so well anymore.

There are three options out there that I know of: a used POTA stock, the newer style HP target stock like the ones currently worn by new carbines and the ATI stock.

Currently I'm leaning toward the ATI stock as they are no longer being produced. But I've also read that it's problematic causing reliability problems. And it can be difficult to install.

The HP stock will probably be cheaper and easier to install but it's not ugly enough to be cool (like the POTA stock) but not not nearly as aesthetically pleasing as the ATI.

Any advice? And please, I know this thread involves Hi-Points, but can we please stay on-topic and take the Hi-Road?

Call Hipoint and they will send you a new stock, free of charge, if there is ANYTHING wrong with the old one. They have one of the best warranty departments of any company in the bizz and your rifle has an unlimited lifetime warranty.

I've used Hi-Point's legendary customer service twice now for a couple of small items and they did not disappoint. I don't doubt one bit that I could get new POTA stock from them.

However, if I'm replacing the old stock I think I'd like to upgrade to something a bit stiffer; the old POTA stock is really floppy and soft.

If they'd replace the stock for free, why not see what they provide and then upgrade if you decide you don't like it? Nothing to lose there...
