A few years back I made an unfortunate decision to buy a century arms 5.45 WASR 2 rifle. It came with an issue or three. To make a long story short I am in need of a new bolt head for the rifle and for the life of me can't find one. Sites like k-var sell the russian ak 74 bolts, but they explicitly state that these will only fit the russian made aks. The bulgarian bolt head listed has been out of stock, best I can tell, for some years now. Does anybody here know where I can find a replacement bolt head?

Any ideas or helpful suggestions are welcome. This is a century arms rifle so I'm quite aware of their QC issues, so no need to rehash that. Thanks for any help.

The Bulgy bolts are different from the Romy bolts, I think one lug is a little longer on one or the other. Anyway they won't work, I've tried it owning a Bulgy `74 and a SAR-2. The Russian bolt is the same as the Bulgy bolt. Any and all bolts need to have the headspace checked and/or corrected as they are NOT hot swapable.

Thanks for the advice. So I gather that unless I find a part that is specifically labeled '5.45 Romanian AK bolt head' then it's not going to fit. Well, next time I'll make sure to get an AK where spare parts for it are actually available.

Re: Dogsoldier

The site does list an ak 74/aks bolt assembly for sale. I'll have to give them a call and see what type it is. Thanks.
