I am working on a load for my 6 BR. I can consistently get 4 shots into a single hole where the CTC would be in the 0.1X range, and then get a flyer. The flyer is random and blows the group to just under sub MOA.

Going o.1 grains gives me a consistent .3 group. But would like to figure out the flyer, could it just be my crappy technique?

Is it happening consistently on the last shot of a group of 5? That's the way that you described it in your post.
If that's the case, the barrel may be touching the stock as it heats up, ruining the harmonics.
That's my best guesstimate.

Are you shooting at your target, or your group?

At times, I find myself trying to place the fifth shot into the group rather than concentrating on what I am supposed to aiming at.

mbogo: I am shooting at the target. The POA is about an inch below POI.
NC: Nope could be any shot. Probably am wishing a group to form. Cant go shooting until the 6th, but will re-try the load and post results.
Walkalong: Those might as well be my targets.

I saved those two as a reminder. They were basically shot back to back (H-120-2 & H-120-3), and in about the same condition (Same rifle, same load, same shooter). They were saved as a reminder how much one mistake can cost. (.186 vs .398 - Competitive vs probably out of it.)

That is one reason I just have to grin a little when folks shoot one group and pronounce a load "good" or "bad". (Sometimes I just bang my head on the wall though.) I usually stay out of the rifle accuracy threads, usually. :)

Dont have the money for a rail gun. Plus Jackie is in a league of his own.

I have to basically improve my technique I guess. The load seems to work, the trigger puller doesnt.
