I have a 9c and have put 1100 rounds through it, for every 1100 trigger pulls the gun has gone bang can't ask for much more.

Yeah, one non-problem is quite a bit.

LOL

Early models had issues with mag drops and FTF with JHP rounds, S&W changed the mag release and changed the follower in the mags. All i know is mine has gone bang 1100 times every time I've pulled the trigger....100% success

Pic one in post fifteen sure makes it look to me like the nose of the ejector is broken/not there...
I wondered about that, too, but it looks just like mine.

Several of my very compact guns exhibit this behavior. The ejection port is sized to eject a spent shell, not an entire cartirdge.
The ejection port is quite large, as well as extensively lowered, on this gun, as shown in the first photo.

Sorry cornman but if you look here you'll see more than *one* problem has been reported . . . and this is just the compact forum. And many of these issues are recent, not old samples.

I am not trying to beat up on the M&P. In fact I really want to like this handgun. I held the 9c yesterday . . . it felt good. But I do not want to trade one problem for another.

So by Tuesday I'll have made a choice between it and the Glock 26.

Hopefully the OP will give us a range report on his 9c today.

Like I said, I like this handgun . . .

Ok, well lastnight I disassembled the gun and gave it a really good cleaning. I tried loading it again, and the round still gets hung up but I can always get it ejected now. Im on my way to the range, will be back with a report.

My wife and I had a good day at the range today. Together we fired 100 rds of winchester 115gr fmj and a 100 rds of remington 115gr fmj and a few win. 147gr jhp for good meaure and all without a hitch. I am very pleased with the recoil for the size of the gun and all the casings ejected with no problems. Im glad I purchased it.....so far. And my wife seems to be very pleased as well which is great because I bought it for her.

I'm glad things worked out well for you.
I actually just purchased exactly the same gun to go with my full sized M&P. Haven't shot it yet. Hope to get to some time this week, but it doesn't look too hopeful.

Excellent. Glad the MP worked well. I love my full size 9.

good to hear mulligan, M&P's don't like to be dry cycled without a proper break in, give er another 200 rounds or so and try to dry cycle her again, I'd be willing to bet you will not have the same issues as you did when you posted this with an virgin M&P.

it probably just needs to break in a little bit

I haven't had any problems with mine since I've had it, and it's gone bang every time.

I think i had ONE FTE in the first 100 rounds, but since then it's been great!

edit: oh yeah you could get some snap caps and practice that way.....safer than using live ammo!

I find that with my 9C, even with a rapid racking of the slide, about half the time the round ejects down the grip rather than through the ejection port. It operates perfectly when I'm firing it, but I think the round size relative to the ejection port means that even the slightest miscue means a full round (with bullet) won't eject.

For what it's worth, your experience probably justifies the relatively high price for a pack of Snapcaps. I always find it pretty disconcerting when I have a malfunction with live rounds. It's worth the $10 to be able to function check your gun without worrying about an ND.

I am the proud owner of the M&P 9c. First thing I did was fill the mag up and try to chamber / Eject rounds manually. It was a little tougher than other models of firearms I have. It was to the point of being worried about it at the range.

Needless to say, took it to the range for the first time and it went bang 100 times! Not one failure. It has since seen close to 1k rounds and still works well. It is my carry gun for now. I do like the p2000sk a bit more but the price is keeping me from purchasing it. I feel comfortable with it and have been 100% pleased with my purchase.

Do not let the 1 out of a thousand "problems" scare you away. S&W has top notch service. They will repair your firearm with no questions asked. With the rebate (ends tomorrow I think) I would recommend EVERYONE go get their M&P's

Just looking at the photo that was posted, it looks as if the slide is not all the way back. You usually do not see the rear of the barrel if the slide is all the way back, nor would the point of the bullet still be hidden if it was all the way back.

Just my $ .02, which being free advice, you can take it for what it is worth.

The Doc is out now.
