Another harebrained idea

Ice axe from REI. Light, wieldy, thonged, with a blade or two for biting into glaciers and a nasty spike at the butt. And mountain climbing is perfectly legit.

Actually, I have to agree that if I don't feel safe in my environment and am denied the means to make it safe, I'm not sticking around.

I would be confident that I could put a P3AT where it couldn't be found. I would not be confident taking an axe to a gunfight.

It was "Indian country" after all!!! And being half Amer. Indian and Scottish...it felt right. That hawk was very handy for day to day work over there. From minor hammering to breaking vehicle glass when something went BANG under your ass. Didn't have any occassion to use it for CQB but it was handy just in case. Several guys in my section carried them. Brought a new meaning to "Hatchet Men"!!

I agree with starboard. You are not required to follow a bad law, or bad rules in your lease. Does your apartment get searched regularly by the apartment cops? I doubt it. Get yourself a nice Mossberg 500 12 gauge ($200.00) and be done with it. You cant carry in NYC? Fine. But your home is your castle, and no one is going to fault you for defending it. It doesn't matter if your apt is owned BY the school, as long as it isn't on school grounds. Get the shotty, hide it, and don't speak of it to anyone. Leasing rules be damned.
