Tube Mag Capacity of Norinco pump vs. Mossberg semi-auto

Comparing the Norinco Hawk 982 pump (Rem 870 Clone) and the Mossberg 930 SPX semi-auto here, the Mossy has a tube about 3" longer, so it LOOKS like it should hold just one more 2.75" shell than the Norinco. But it holds TWO more (7+1 for the Mossy vs. 5+1 for the Norinco) - what's up with that; what's wrong with the Norinco?

The Norinco 982 has mag tube dimples and plastic spring retainer like the 870 Express. The spring retainer keeps the mag cap from loosening like the Express but it takes away tube space. Drill the dimples out and get rid of the spring retainer and your Norinco will hold 6+1 with some 2 3/4" shells. Some are longer and you may not be able to get 6 in the tube.
