Tucson/Phoenix Arizona THR get together thread.

dasmi - Prescott is a good 2 hour drive from Phx, so unless you want to do all that extra driving you're welcome to stay at my place. I've got plenty of space, a pool, and a lovable German Shepherd/Chow. I've also got 3 birds, but they're not too noisy (most of the time).

If we do a Saturday shoot, the 23rd would be better for me than the 16th as I'll be dropping my wife and daughter at the airport on the morning of the 16th.

I'm liking the 23rd more. It will also give AZTOY time to adjust from his trip back to the motherland.

If we make it the 23rd, MikeJ apparently can also make it. What about Snake Eyes? I'll also have my guest room available that weekend for dasmi or 444 should they need it.

Dasmi and 444 - If you would like to take me up on my offer, just PM me and I'll give you directions to my house. All I ask is to able to shoot your guns. You're both welcome to stay. With my wife out of town the company would be appreciated.

23rd is no good for me. That's midweek, and I'm coming from San Diego. If I'm the only one who can't make it that day, then don't worry about it.

Uh...Dasmi? Check the calander again--the 23rd is a Saturday.

And it works fine for me.

23rd is much better than the 24th for me. Wife is flying back that day. She gets in around 5PM, so I could shoot that day but I'd rather do it the 23rd.

Dasmi - make sure you're looking at July, not still June.

I'll be in Prescott on the weekend of the 16th and 17th, so that one is out for me. Unless y'all want to come shoot some trap with me....

I'd love to get together for another AZ shoot on the 23rd, but I have to work that day........at the range. The weekend of the 23rd and 24th will be one of the public range weekends in Buckeye. The range opens at 6am and "closes" at noon, but since it's my turn in the RSO rotation I suppose that we could stay open a bit longer.


Let me know if y'all want to come out. I might even be able to convince some of the NFA owners in the club to bring out their toys.

If Phoenix is going to be the place, I can be there almost for sure. Too much further north, and I just won't be able to make the drive. How long is the drive to Phoenix from San Diego? Seven hours maybe?

If we decide on Buckeye then its even closer to San Diego.

Len's range is a nice place and even has a long range rifle set up. Thats what got me hooked on long range rifle shooting.

I drove from Tucson to San Diego right after 9/11 (tuna fishing trip - 'd the whole way out on the boat and didn't even catch anything). Took a little over 6 hours to drive out there. Phoenix is closer for you than Tucson, so I'd say about 5 hours so long as traffic cooperates. You gonna crash at my place, or just drive out and back in the same day?

I think my dad (pretty new shooter) wants to tag along, so we might get a hotel for the night, or just turn around and drive back. Not really sure yet.

We both have to figure out if we can get Friday off work. Not as much of a problem for me, but he's pretty busy right now.
He's semi new. He's shot my Ruger Service Six, a Glock 17, and a Ruger Mk. II.
The Mk. II is by far his favorite.

Well if he comes with you he will be able to shoot a heck of alot more guns that just the 3 named.

Dasmi - I have a queen size guest bed, so I'll leave it up to you and your dad as to whether or not you want to share. If not, I've been told the leather couch is pretty decent, more so than the cloth couch, though I also have a recliner. If you don't want to share you may want to consider bringing an air mattress if the couch/recliner doesn't thrill you. When my daughter is a bit older and no longer needing a crib we'll have her in a full size bed, but unfortunately for you that's a good year or two in the future.

Regardless, it beats $80 for a hotel.

I should know by Wednesday whether or not I can even make it. I'll post here as soon as I know. Also, could someone post the address of the range we'll be at, so I can get an idea of where I need to drive?

I PM'd Len in Phoenix on the range in Buckeye. If its available then I think it would be the best place to host it. Its off of I-10 (Hwy-85 S.) about 10-15 miles West of Glendale.

Lennyjoe - Any word from Len_in_Phoenix? Also, do you expect to be up here anytime in the next couple of weeks? I still need to set up the reloading gear.

I'm dropping the wife off in Phoenix tomorrow for a flight out. Maybe next weekend I could head up. This weekend is pretty much booked.
