Here is my CZ 452 Varmint that I had accurized. A friend of mine did all the work. He chopped the barrel to 17â€, recrowned it, bedded the action, floated the barrel, worked on the trigger, fabricated a new scope mount in a semi-scout position, and mounted a Burris compact 3-9 scope with a long eye relief. On a bi-pod using Wolf target match ammo he shot groups less than ½†at 50 yards with a best of .32â€. At 25 yards one hole groups aren’t a challenge regardless of ammo type. I've only had the chance to shoot it at 25 yards. I'm hoping my next trip to the range I'll find out how well I can shoot it at 50.

Out of curiousity, why chop the barrel?

I have the Varmit and while I haven't used it enough to really wring out hoe good the accuracy is, I'm very happy with it.

Also mine came with the barrel floated all the way back to about 2 inches in front of where barrel meets action.

I had it chopped for a couple of reasons. One, to cut down on the weight. Two, from what I've read and heard, the "lost" barrel length wasn't going to effect accuracy. Three, the recrown would most likely improve accuracy.

That's adorable! :p

Just teasing. . . ;)

That's really cool. I've never seen a scout-scope on a .22 rifle before, but the more I think about it, the more it seems like a cool idea.

Deja vu...

My 452 Varmint is actually at the moment at the gunsmith for almost similar reasons: bedding, barrel floating, triggerjob and the barrel being shortened to approx. ~17" and muzzle threaded for silencer (with silencer, the overall length is imho too much even with the varmint model).

six 4 sure, I have a question for you:
since, for some odd reason, in the varmint model the barrel is fastened to the stock about 4" in front of the bolt frame - did you leave it like that, remove it or perhaps something else?
