1893? Turkish Mauser when feeding from the right occasional problem but when feeding from the left the nose of the round gets wedged into the corner where the barrel joins the receiver:banghead:. Also the rounds (8x57mm) seem to small for the magazine well. Headspace is good, bore is good. If fed one at a time rounds have no difficulties, but who wants single shot capabilty? No problems with extraction or firing.

How does the spring make a difference? it can only go in one way it has to hook in the follower and base if the spring is upside down it wont function, that is not the problem. I am thinkin though it might be a 7mm follower but even then with 8mm rounds they fit on the follower nicely, but thats to be expected as 7mm and 8mm are both 57mm case length. The rounds seem to float in the mag well having about a quarter inch of horizontal play, vertical is nice and tight just like my other Mausers 1891 Argentine and 1895 Chilean short carbine.

Yeah,I follow you.I've got a Yugo 24/47,and one of my son's buddies has a Turkish 1938 in my safe about six feet from where I'm typing this. What it seems like, from here,is that the follower isn't coming all the way up.I've seen when people didn't know how to install the mag spring, but just had it''floating''on top of the spring ,without the ''tongue'' of the spring being inserted in the bottom underside of the follower, that the front of the follower would be lower, causing the misfeed you described.I now know that's not so,because you already checked that. That leaves it being maybe a follower from an unconverted 7mm in an 8mm gun.it sounds like you're knowledgeable, have you checked www.buymilsurp.com and e-gunparts for the correct follower?

N0, I didnt check on a replacement follower because according to the research I have done it has all the correct markings, but it could be a fake, how would go about getting a correct instead of current production follower or would it not matter to the value of the rifle. Everything as far as I know is correct with matching nimbers ecxept the ceaning rod but that is an arsenal switch as it has a brass head.

Try swapping out the magazine spring first- it might not have enough tension. Check the underside of the feed rails- is there a bur? Try smoothening and polishing the edge and underside of the feed rail-try not to remove much metal, the geometry of the feed rails on a mauser is critical for feeding.
