Obviously this isn't hollywood- Why didn't the guy to a flip and get knocked 10 feet back when he for shot 10 times!!!

Last night I flipped on the idiot box while my wife was making a quick batch of ginger shortbread before we settled down to watch a video. It’s best that I stay out of the way when she’s cooking. (In open disclosure, it goes the other way as well. Small kitchen.)

Anyway, I turned the sound down, because she hates being able to hear what’s on but not see it, and then hear drastic dialog or background music changes when I change channels. So I got to a foreign language channel, and spotted one guy (we’ll call him “Perp”) holding a pistol (looked like an older, plain jane 1911) to another guy’s head (we’ll call him GG1), while apparently telling him why he was going to kill him (remember, I had the sound down). The camera switched to show another fellow (we’ll call him GG2) on the roof above the first two guys, slowly sneaking toward the edge.

So, the view switches to what GG2 is seeing, and we see Perp step out away from GG1 about 4 feet, and aim the pistol in toward where GG1 would be standing. Good form, strong grip. The camera switches to about 10 feet to the left of Perp, showing GG1 about to be shot by Perp, as GG2 jumps Perp from above. GG2 and Perp struggle, Perp drops the gun, Perp decks GG2, but in the meantime GG1 has picked up the gun. GG1 goes to aid GG2, points the gun at Perp, obviously telling him to stay where he is or he’ll shoot. It was all going really well, for TV anyway, but when GG1 points the gun at Perp, he’s holding it sideways! Perp started walking toward GGs 1 & 2, so GG1 shot him. At least the bullet hit properly for a jerked trigger from a sideways hold, left lung area. The perp stopped, and reached for a knife on his ankle. As he was advancing on GGs 1 & 2 again, about 10 cops show up and order him to drop the knife. When he turned toward them and it appeared he was going to head their way GG2 grabbed GG1 and yanked him out of the way before the cops opened fire. I thought that was well done. When the cops did shoot, they each appeared to only fire one round each, all of which penetrated fully, as you could tell by the back of Perp’s shirt (camera was behind Perp facing the cops). Firing only one round each was pretty unrealistic. (Oh, and they were lousy shots. The 9 or 10 exit wounds were all evenly spaced accross his back. Only one COM hit in the bunch.) That, and Perp stayed standing for about 5 seconds after getting hit by 9 or 10 rounds (I suppose that could happen). Then just sagged to his knees and fell forward onto the ground. The camera zeroed in on his face, and he was obviously still alive. I changed channels at that point. I wonder if he survived to be a Perp in next week's episode?

They got some things right. But when they got them wrong, they got them really wrong.

Now this is really wierd.

I started this thread, and MakAttak responded later, but the timestamps are screwed up bigtime. Sending message to staff.

From the movie standpoint, the reason why his bullet hits were all spread out was because squibs hurt! Tiny little explosive packet rigged either to the shirt or his back that explodes outward, blowing a hole and shooting some blood. They feel like having a small firecracker taped to your body (which it is, basically).

Famously, in the Godfather, after James Caan's character is shot about a 1000 times, he chased the SFX guy around cursing him out because it hurt so bad and he was promised it wouldn't. The only had one take of that scene, for obvious reasons!

well thats gotta be a first, you get a reply before even posting the story :what:

yeah, but hey, its TV, what can you expect?

There once was a lady named Bright
Whose speed was far faster than light
She went out one day
In a relative way
And returned on the previous night . . .

Yep, the clock's been fixed.
