Anybody old enough to remember Robert Vaughn as "Napoleon Solo" and "David (Ducky) Mccallum" as his partner "Ilya Kuryakin"? If memory serves me I believe one of them did not "carry". Any better memory/speller out there?

Yeah, JAG is hokey as hell, but at least it treats the military profession with respect. I can overlook a LOT of flaws for that!

I remember R.V. & Ducky in the old show, "Man form U.N.C.L.E." Don't remember if both carried, though. Remember "Agent99" from "Get Smart"?
I disgree. Sorry Mod.

"disgree"???? How about "digress"?

That's right Bob-and I'm pretty sure Solo carried and Ilya didn't. Yo mods-like the way we've kept this thread technically proper with an occasional referance to guns? OK- anybody out there remember wheter either of these 2 carried and if so, what?

Illya carried something

Was at an *ANTIQUE* shop Saturday, (god, am I old!) and they had a "Man from U.N.C.L.E. " lunchbox with Illya Kuryakin carrying something that looked like a cross between Han (not Napoleon):D Solo's "Lucasized" Broomhandle Mauser, and a paintball gun.
Now Star Wars weapons....interesting that they all were WWII era. Solo's Mauser (OK, WWI) , the Sterling's that were the main issue Stormtrooper weapon, and the MG42's that some of them carried!:)

*I find your lack of faith disturbing*

I remember that show very well. However, I clearly recall an episode where both of then drew down on each other mistaking the other for the enemy. Don't know if that one show was the exception to the rule or not with regards to one of them not carrying.

The U.N.C.L.E. guns were Walther P38s with many special attachments such as silencers and long range sights and actually got the show in trouble with the BATF for making illegal modifications to firearms (recall reading that in a book I have on the show) ...

... By the way, you can order your very own blank firing replica of the gun from these people ...

One would think that a qualified medical examiner who is shown as knowing everything in the show, would know that also.

Maybe I should ask this some place else but does anyone know why hollowpoints are banned in warafare? What could be so bad about a hollowpoint when bombs are being dropped which can blow a person to bits?

....Ohhhhh You Want them to ACCURATE ?

...Remember that many television people have NO CLUE about reality --- just look at how dumb those "reality TV" shows are !!

Very Respectfully,

'Dum-Dum' Ban

Ammunition for warfare was standardized by The Hague Accords of 1905, before most of the more vicious methods of maiming and killing were developed. (CBU's , Bouncing Bettys, Toe Poppers, etc.) The only instance I know of that a military power skirted the issue is when the AK-74 5.45 reound was introduced, the steel cored bullet had a hollow pocket just behind the point, but not open the the air. It had the same effect terminally, without technically violating The Hague Accords, which the Soviet Union wasn't signatory to anyway, having not exsisted in 1905.
Interestingly, the United States was not a signatory to thr Geneva Convention of 1936, yet is one of the few nations that constantly complies with it.:)
