I joined my family "up north" for a deer hunt in Mifflin County, Pennsylvania. The young buck walked by spot where I was sitting on the ground partially hidden by laurels. Shot distance with my Winchester angle-eject model 94 was about 30 yards. Later on, we organized a couple deer drives and I shot this doe as it bounded past my post. Distance was about 45 yards. One shot through the chest organs did the job in each case. I really like the penetration and performance of 170 grain Power Point ammo.

30-30 is a keeper!

The ole thutty-thutty ain't as sexy as some of the new cartridges, but the ole gal can still get the job done. Congrats on some fine shooting and good eating.

Congrats........ I've never taken two deer in the same morning and not even in the same day..... Closest I ever came to that has been filling a buck & doe tag in a few days of the same week, LOL. I could have used two deer this year as my step daughter and her two kids all love venison.

Nice!
A hunting buddy of mine got a deer using a 94 and lever evolution at 235 yds. There was some drop from POA but it still worked, this being 10 years ago, about

The 30-30 170 gr cup and core bullets from Rem, Fed, Win, are all pretty good on deer and hogs. I can get exit wounds on hogs with quartering away shoulder shots. Usually hit them in the head though.

Nice job on getting two deer for your freezer!!

I had these two come buy together,

That's just about the right amount for our freezer!

I need to get in the woods but I don’t have time or location to hunt in my home state, and season is pretty much done in KY where the family farm is. I just can’t see the cost justification to hunt the family farm at “Non-resident” license rates.
