Took my sister and her husband shooting on Saturday. She had never handled a firearm before. He used to deer hunt, but had never fired a sidearm. She mentioned last month that she wanted me to take her shooting. She claimed to have always thought it sounded fun, but this was the first I'd heard about it.

Started them off with the wife's Buckmark. Sister was rather nervous before the first shot, but settled in as soon as she realized that the pistol was not going to leap out of her hand. She went through about 100 rounds, then noticed the wife with her ladysmith in the next lane and asked to shoot that.

She did better than I expected with the little revolver - shooting double-action - and commented more than once, "I really like this one." She shot the Python as well (.38's only) and went back to the Buckmark once, but ended back on the J-frame.

Sharing the second lane with my wife was our son, who is developing some skill with my dad's old Remington Model 12A .22 rifle. He was shooting mostly offhand and putting up some very nice groups. I was very proud of his safe gunhandling the whole time, too.

Both sister and brother-in-law want to go again soon. Seems to be two new shooters in the making.
