The emphasis they are putting on his "Laser Sight" is a tad disturbing.

I wonder when they are going to try and ban those

Whats wrong with some of you?

Some are using this as a platform to attack the Ruger brand. Others are using this as a political soap box. Still others are taking this as an opportunity to attack the 380acp cartridge...

I applaud those of you with some common sense. The rest of you: grow up.

Even liberal Democrats in this state take up guns for the election. Remember Ma Richards?

And why are we just now hearing about it? Jogging by himself? What! No cell phone pictures?

So I think this is all planned political story for the election with a grain of truth. He jogs with his dog. And if he did, someone had to step out of the line of fire that carried a bigger gun.

I suppose if we tried hard enough we could get them to make laser sights mandatory by showing how they are a safety devise. They help keep you from missing your intended target and hitting an innocent bystander!

They'd better leave the laser sights alone.

P.S. Wow! Have you spell-checked your forum name? It comes up with "Gonorrheal".

"Don't attack my dog or you might get shot." Gotta like a guy that can make a blunt statement like that. Now if only he would support Arizona's new immigration law.

My main takeaway from this article is that the governor is nuts for carrying chamber empty, especially considering it was probably an Elsie Pea, which isn't the easiest thing in the world to rack under stress.

/but I bet that Coyote knew he meant business when he racked the slide Hollywood style. :D

I am surprised the coyote stuck around to get shot. Most run off before you even see them. Maybe it was rabid or completely lost its healthy fear of humans.

Don't think his advisors didn't take that into account. Better he appear humble by admitting to a fear of snakes, than to look like he's packing because he's afraid of criminals. From what I know of him, he's worth considering for governor of the year.

Coyotes have become more bold around humans lately especially along the southwest region. One of the reasons is the tasty pets we keep around us.

poddon me guvnar...... I just want ya' dawg.

I wonder how many other pets have vanished lately in that area.

Two things strike me after reading this....

Where was the Texas Ranger (DPS) security personnel assigned to the Governor? High profile figures don't go it alone on a morning jog.....maybe they flipped a coin to see who would shoot it?

Why would a high profile individual (where money is no object) stoop to carrying a Ruger for crying out loud?.....I'd hope my States leader could afford better. You Texas folks need to give that man a raise so he can represent your state in style.....like a Colt SAA.
If a member of the security detail had shot it they would have had to do twenty pages of paperwork detailing the incident. Any discharge while on duty would require a report to be filed even if they were carrying and used a personal sidearm.

Anyone get the distance on the shot? Was it running or standing still? I am sure the Rangers could have taken that Coyote, but it sure makes good press to use for election credits, for him to have done it himself. Plus it sure doesn't hurt his public image in his home state. I would imagine if Bloomberg did it, to a rat on the subway, it would have a different outcome, lol

I always said if I were elected sheriff, I would ride in on a horse my first day packing a pair of colt SAA with ivory grips. First order of business would be to install a hitchin' post by the back door.
:neener:

So he makes the choice to take a puppy to a nature preserve and one of the animals being preserved, the "nature", has to die for it?

I actually frequent a few nature preserves, but danged if I am gonna allow myself to be eaten in order to preserve a meal for one of the critters or even to preserve the life of the critter.

Since my dog is willing to offer up his life to protect me, I am willing to offer up a coyote's life to protect him. We rednecks are just like that.........
