This is a problem that's been solved once when the CDC did what the NIH is now trying.

Contact your Congressional representative and tell them that if the NIH won't restrict itself to it's charter then it needs to be restricted by Congress via funding cuts. Ask them why they're allowing the NIH to waste money trying to support gun control via boondoggle studies while we're in the midst of an economic crisis.

John, you are absolutely right, and I hope that people do as you suggest; but keep in mind that the government in Washington is now controled by legislators and a leadership that fully agree with what NIH is doing. :banghead:
 
Many of these studies are just part of the pork. Having the Federal government fund these organizations often keeps their doors open. It's a political agenda. Maybe we could have ACORN do some studies. I bet some of those ACORN employees I saw on the videos would make excellent research scientists.
