I picked up a Uberti '58 Remington, I also picked up a .44 bullet mold from Era's gone By, and the Paper cartridge Former from Guns of the West. I had a chance to get out to the range last weekend. I They work well. I did find that after a few cylinders, some unburnt paper clogged a nipple. Next time I'll try nitrating the paper to see if I can get it to burn cleaner. I put together a sequence of making the cartridge, and firing a few shots if anyone is interested.

Try hair curling iron papers, they burn completely, are tough and basically waterproof. Plus you get 1000 of them for a couple of dollars. Depending on the glue you use for the end cap a small ring can be left behind in the bottom of the chamber. They don't cause any problems.

Nice thanks. I'll look into that. that'll give me another option to compare on the next round.

Hey Miguel Loco, will be in your area and drop off more cards at the smoke shop possibly Saturday.

Good video. Straightforward and to the point, sped up through the repetitive parts. I'd suggest including some shots at normal speed for your next one; people like to see what it's actually like to shoot, not in slow motion for every shot.

I have the GOW paper cartridge kit but haven't tried making any yet. Looks like fun!

Thank you very much. those are good suggestions. I like the slow-mo, just cause you see a lot of neat detail, but you do loose some perspective if you don't have some shots recorded at full speed. I'll incorporate that if I make a future video. Appreciate it.

I can't watch YT where I am right now, but I also did paper cartridges in a New Model Army, worked better with the end papers I got from a local beauty salon. I also tried dipping them in some homemade lube that didn't work very well - found out later it the beeswax I used was VERY old. Oops. I use the Guns of the West kit, really easy to use.

First try without lube

Not too shabby at 11paces.

With lube - see how the old lube is flaking off badly. The loaded cartridge was dipped in hot lube.

Cracked off lube everywhere.

Still didn't do too bad.

I'll bet yours will be better!

they look good! the one issue I ran into way the coffee filter paper is a little thick, and didn't burn completely. it eventually clogged up a nipple. Next plan I'll use experiment with curling iron paper, and cigarette paper.

If you do use a heavy paper like coffee filters, you can make the end-cap paper out of something else, even flash paper or the like that are a little delicate to make the whole cartridge out of.
