Uh oh... the zombies are coming.

Looks like a perfectly fine and normal piece of equipment. So they gave it an interesting name...so what?

At least the name has an element of humor. They could have called it "Tactical Black Ops Champion Operator.":barf:

I would probably buy one if it was available for Win 1300.

Creative marketing for the new generation of shooters... dont see anything real wrong with it...

Ok I have to ask but why have zombies, zombie apocalypse, and zombie hunting invaded the gun culture so much recently? I even had an employee at the LGS tell me that there was nothing better for the zombies than the XD 9 SC I was buying as a gift for my wife. It seriously almost made me walk out because it wasn’t like he was trying to make a joke about it; he even told an old couple the same thing about ten minutes later while I was waiting on the NICS check.

Zombies are a fun way to train and prepare for almost any disaster situation. I would say lighten up a little bit. No one really believes the walking dead are coming. Well at least until December 2012 that is ;-)

I dont see a problem either, besides the name that stock isnt anything we haven't seen before. If the pistol grip didnt make the slide release and safety harder to function on a mossberg i would think about one for a 590.

The prevalence of zombies can be directly traced to Andrew Wilkow I believe. Well, maybe not, but he is fond of the phrase, "ferral zombie looters".
It could be the popularity of that mini series, "The Walking Dead".
It's fun anyway.

Yes I agree it fun; in small doses. Maybe it’s just the people at the gun store around here that think guns are good for two things hunting deer and hunting zombies.

Back on topic I would buy one but I tend to agree that it wouldn’t allow me to work the safety on my Mossberg easily.

I think flash mobs are one factor.

So is the economy.

The zombie thing is nothing new though

Yeah, I don't really get the zombie stuff either. I do understand that maybe it markets stuff to the new generation, but it could be detrimental. To me, it kind of blurs the line between video games and reality, and some people might be better off with a little more definition.

See, instead of having a traditional gun culture, one where the kid gets a bb gun and then a .22 and goes shooting with dad, we now have kids that don't come from firearms backgrounds, but they do have a playstation. They go to college and become of age. Without that traditional background, without military training, without competitive training, they get firearms but don't know what to do with them. What are they REALLY used for?

Judging by the threads on here, I'd say we have some confused people. They go from no firearms, no gun culture, straight to tacticool. They have no other justification than tacticool, I have it, and of course, zombies. That is what they are used for on the video games, right?

That is the problem I see with it. That our pastime is growing is good, how it is growing I'm not so enthusiastic about. The disconnect is disconcerting.

The stock? Eh. I guess somebody thought "M4 shotgun stock" needed a cool name.

I see tons of potential here for a whole line of products. Zombie hunter cleaning kits, zombie hunter tac-rails, maybe even some day a couple of guys arguing over whether zombie-shot or turkey-shot would be better self defense loads for apartment dwellers.

Roll with it, if the undead can sell it - let 'em.

"Zombie-shot"...If you don't market that idea, I might just have to give it a go... grin.gif

lol

As if learning from dad is going to give them good habits regarding safety and shooting technique.

I'd much rather they get online and learn from fellow shooters on the major forums, or from a good book, than learn from dad. Dad probably has his finger on the trigger anytime the gun is in hand and his advice probably includes things like shooting in the leg for non lethal force or dragging dead bodies into your home.

To me, it's an attempt to make shooting humanoid targets socially acceptable.

Kind of like Geico brain storming over what ethnicity to poke fun at, realized they'd get sued no matter which one they chose "unless we made fun of a caveman......hey! That's it!!"

Anything that gets more people shooting is a good thing.

I have to agree with Hanzo581 here. :uhoh:

For why, it's probably because it's a politically-correct cross-over of fun and training. If you train to shoot at Jerry, you're a para-military. If you train to shoot as generic bad guys, you're a vigilante or a nutjob. If you train to shoot at zombies, you're probably a goof, but relatively harmless.

Plus, yes, they're an amusing way to prepare. If you're ready for zombies, you're more than ready for a hurricane.

Also, this generation doesn't have a 'proper reason' for the gun collections. Men up until 1900 or so had to put meat on the table. Then they were worried about Jerry in the Great War. Then the Great Depression, and they're back to putting food on the table. Then Jerry again. along with his eastern buddies. Then we were worried about Ivan.

How many people built bomb shelters in the 50's and 60's?

The closest thing we have right now barely has the wherewithal to level an elementary school before that country would be back to worrying if they could find the right rocks to bang together for a fire that night.

Zombies are this generations 'fun' version of the Red Scare.

Today might be the wrong day to talk about how ineffective our Jihadist enemies are.

If I could buy that stock, and get a discount on a tactical wheelbarrow, I'd strongly consider it...

All kidding aside, it would appear that someone at Brownells has a sense of humor. I find it refreshing to see a stock set like that without the word "tactical" slathered all over it.
