I think that this is a great group of firearms enthusiasts on this site so I thought I'd pass on a little info. Aim Surplus in Ohio, www.aimsurplus.com , has a great deal on Swiss K31 rifles right now. $60 dollars shipped! :what: This is a great deal on a great rifle. Ask anybody who owns one and I don't think you'll be disappointed. They are extremely accurate and a firearm engineering marvel. Aim doesn't list them on their website. You'll have to call and ask. I just ordered my fourth k31 :D 2nd from Aim. I believe these might have repairs or cracks in the wood and misnumbered bolts and recievers, still should shoot great though. I've never seen a K31 with a bad bore, I've heard the swiss never used corrosive ammo. Also while ordering your K31 get a block of GP11 swiss cheese(ammo) from aim as well, they have a good price on surplus ammo and the Gp11 really is match quality. :)

I got in on that deal a couple of weeks ago when it was offered as a 'cracked stock special.' The rifle I ended up with had no cracks in the stock, was in the same or better condition as other K-31s I've bought for $100 or less, but had a mismatched magazine and had a 1944 stock on a 1952 rifle. For $60 or even $160 you couldn't buy a better rifle.

A K31 at $60 is indeed the best value in firearms bar none! If I didn't already have two, I'd pick one up. And ya, I hate you and myself for our complicity in helping to let this golden secret out of the bag. :uhoh:

Imagine being forced to drive past AIM's warehouse everyday on your way to work. Now imagine AIM offering over-the-counter sales. You've just entered my reality. I believe that my wife is planning the fire-bombing of AIM so order quick.

The 3 K-31's I got were all from AIM and I was real happy with all of 'em. Still got 2. Closest thing to a match trigger I've ever seen on a milsurp.

OK I don't know diddle about mil.hardware. What ammo dose it take?I been looking for a shooter with cheap ammo,is this my baby?

:what: Dang I'd be broke and mate-less! I feel for ya man.

It depends on what call a 'shooter.' Some people are happy with $79 mosin nagants that shoot saucer or dinner plate sized groups with ammo that costs $0.08 per round. I like rifles that are capable of pushing moa accuracy or better.

7.5x55 swiss
You won't find the ammo in your local sporting goods store.
Places like Aimsurplus.com sell it in 60 rd bricks for about $23.
Its on the expensive end of the scale for surplus ammunition.
Its on the far inexpensive side of the scale for match grade ammo.

Swiss GP-11 ammo and the K-31 are a perfect match for eachother, you won't find a better shooting combination in the surplus rifle world unless spend on a rifle that costs multiples of the K-31 cost such as the Swedish M96 or 03A3 springfield, and even then, if you can find match grade ammo for those rifles, it will cost you much more than GP-11 ammo.

Also Wolf is supposed to start making ammo for these rifles any day now. It is supposed to be brass cased and reloadable. the GP11 while great ammo, is Berdan primed and not reloadable. The 7.5*55 is from what I understand ballistically similar to the old milsurp 30 06 round, usually a 175 gr bullet.

Hey...?

When I use the link and go to AIM - it looks to me like they're asking $79.95 for the K-31, not $60..... :scrutiny:

A K-31 is also a great excuse to get into reloading. My current favorite load runs me about $3.65/20, or $11 per 60. This is for a good quality hunting round. I use .284Win brass (resized and trimmed) and regular .308 bullets (150gr. Sierras).

Dear L--d in Heaven!

$60!?!?

I have never bought a gun on a acharge card. Must...not...begin...now.

longhorngunman, you are an evil, evil man.

SnakeEater, if you have any money in savings, you have inhuman control.

I visited Museum Replicas in December to buy a Martini-Henry & I swear I was DUI (of endorphins) when we left.

Cheapest K31 I can get is more than that by a bunch ($80 +S&H + $40 transfer fee). I'll have to wait until this September and my birthday, unfortunately.

I got a couple of the AIM $60 specials in July. Then they sold out, then they got a few more. Probably not enough to list on website, but if you are interested call them. They may have a few left.

These were described as not meeting AIM's standards due to slight surface rust, stock cracks or other niggling details. One of mine had a mismatched bolt and missing band spring, the other was fine. I suspect that CAI's big ol' import mark on the receiver and the ATF required second serial number is the biggest reason they're blowing them out. None of this affects accuracy or utility, however, and this is the least expensive intro you'll ever have to the Swiss way of gunmaking.

GP11 ammo is good but not reloadable. You can reform 284 Win brass or get new brass from Graf's. Wolf 7.5x55 is expected this month, but I haven't seen it for sale yet.

Where can you get reloadable brass for the 7.5 Swiss? IIRC, they use .308 diameter bullets. With 100 or so reloadable casings you could do OK with one for awhile.

Dammit I hate transfer fees.
Get a C&R FFL. $30 for 3 years. No transfer fees. They can mail stuff directly to your house. It becomes really easy to get in trouble with the Better Half.

http://www.grafs.com has unprimed brass for $28.99/100 up to $260.91/1000. They do use .308 bullets, which would allow you a veritable cornucopia of loads possible for one of the most accurate rifles out there.

Sorry for the tease then, the salesman told me they didn't have many left. Still the regular deal for $80 ain't bad. These rifles are worth it. Also the C&R license is definetly a great deal. I't paid for itself in two rifle purchases. Also www.classicarms.us is a good place for Swiss rifles and milsurp rifles in general. I believe SOG has them too.

So anyone know an FFL or other who deals with AIM around Houston? I don't know any dealers.
