A friend of mine working for Campus Reform wrote this article, and it is nice to see that some in academia are rational about firearms. For those that don't know, the ideas behind free speech zones is that students may protest solely within the confines of a predesignated area. Timing and nature of protests are also typically heavily regulated by faculty, which usually leads to heavy favoritism for liberal students. A great deal of campus activism exists across the country supporting gun rights for students and faculty, who are often disarmed by state laws and University regulations. I have attached a direct link to the site below the text of the article.

Prof: Speech codes bigger threat than guns on campus

....

A professor of sociology and criminology at the University of North Carolina-Wilmington (UNCW) claimed free speech zones are more dangerous than allowing guns on campus, in an op-ed published earlier today.

Dr. Mike Adams, a conservative author and pundit, made the claim in an op-ed published on Town Hall titled “Ok Let’s Have Open Carry on Campus.”

...

Editor's note: The author of this story hosted Dr. Adams for a speech at Providence College in spring, 2010. Adam's sometimes serves as guest faculty for the Leadership Institute, which owns Campus Reform.
