Mine is a Buck 501. Hopelessly "old school." Probably of little interest to the knife hands on this forum, but it has lots of sentimental value for me. Handsome in looks and design. Worn with an open top, pouch-type belt sheath. If I ever learn how to sharpen a knife correctly, it will have an edge.
Is it still a switchblade with the torsion spring removed so it is no longer AO ? This is easy to do. The safety can also be easily disabled. (25024) Removing the Torsion Bar from the Kershaw Cryo - YouTube (25024) Removing the tip safety lock on the Kershaw Leek Spring Assisted Knife - YouTube

This thread reminds me that I need to order his-and-hers Spyderco Delica knives, so that we can be ready to travel, if/when the health regs allow. I have had a Spyderco Delica blunted trainer, for longer than I can remember, but have never gotten around to acquiring the sharpened version. Stay out of Maryland. It's California East and a complete dump run by evil people. Go to Virginia; it hasn't fallen apart yet despite Northam's best efforts.
"The NYS Court of Appeals, their highest court, has also ruled that assisted openers fall into the same category as switchblades, which are illegal." There were a couple of pertinent items in the last two years. One involved a bill making gravity knives legal, the other, a court case, said assisted knives were now switchblades, which are illegal. https://www.nysenate.gov/legislation/bills/2019/s4863 https://knifenews.com/ny-court-of-appeals-upholds-2017-switchblade-verdict/ Unless there was another bill making assisted knives and switchblades legal, I believe that law is still in effect.
