Unfinished AR15 Lower

I have wanted to do a build for quite some time. I was thinking of buying an unfinished lower and doing the machining work myself( I am a machinist with 15y exp, have access to pretty much any machine I need) anyone tried this or know anyone that did? how did it turn out? was it simple machining or complex? thanks for the replies.

It's really not that difficult pending the type of unfinished lower you choose. Some without the buffer tube area finished, can be an issue to align the tube properly, but you can judge that when you look at the many unfinished lowers that are offered. I know of quite a few that finished them with a drill press, and dremel tool with a jig set. Prices vary but keep in mind the tools you will need to complete the project are also a factor.
