Universal Sling?

I was looking through Cabela's website. They have a rifle sling that is attached to long guns without using sling studs. It looks like it is somehow tied to the gun. I have several older long guns that I would like to have a sling on, but don't want to go through the trouble of having them drilled.

Has anyone here tried a tie-on sling? Any good?

I haven't tried the $40 buck one from Cabalas.

But I did make one out of .50 cents worth of 1" nylon strap from the hardware store a few years ago.
I use it on my old Winchester pump & lever action rifles, and also double barrel shotguns I didn't want to bubba with sling swivels.

Just sew a loop in each end of the strap and run the sling back through each loop.

Then lasso the barrel and grip and pull the loops tight.

Not a target sling by any means, but works fine for a carry strap/sling for hunting, etc.
