I was listening to a radio show Sunday when I realized that Springfield did not have a solution for the XD-S recall yet and that when I sent my XD-S (and my brother's) in for the recall, they might be gone--for a while. As I contemplate my options, I could:
  1. Go back to my LCP
  2. Go back to my XD SC (40 S&W)
  3. Carry something more full size but single stacked (1911)
  4. Look at something else (Possibly an M&P Shield 40 S&W)

For me, not adhering to the recall is not an option.

If you are subject to the XD-S recall and were using your's for carry, what are your plans for carry until you get your XD-S back?

Thanks,

MC

I am still carrying the PF9 as I have been for 7 years.

I also still have my XDs45 and shoot it while developing .45 loads. I plan on sending it in after SA figures out what to do and the fellows start getting their XDses back and have some time to check them out for function.

I offered a guy at work 400 bucks for his XDs 45 today...LOL

He's still carrying his, and has no plans to send it back for several more months. Another guy at work has zero intentions of sending his back ever.

I'd really like to have one, hopefully they'll start hitting the market after paranoid people start getting them back, because they can't be "trusted" ;)

I had already "upgraded" to a Ruger KLCR before I sent my XD-S in to Springfield so being without the pistol isn't a huge problem. I now have two KLCRs and plan to sell the XD-S as soon as I get it back. I bought mine way below dealer cost so it'll be easy to recoup my investment. I have four 7-round magazines to sell too. The only possible issue is that I'll be moving to a different state so I'm hoping that Springfield ships it soon or else I'm going to have them ship it to the FFL I use here.

Either my glock 19 or LCR are what I chose to carry oh add to that list my sig p238 as well.

None of the above. Buy a new gun because none of the guns listed are adequate because <insert contrived reason here>.

Thanks for the comments! Strangely enough, even though I had been putting off sending my XD-S back, I had not thought of waiting until a fix has been found and keeping the gun until then. I might send my brother's XD-S off as a test. Shhhhh- Don't tell him. :)

Not opposed to getting another gun, although I can't spend a lot on it I HAVE to know it will function when my life depends on it. Liked the comments about the PF9 and the price is right. Would have to shoot the heck out of it before I trust it to carry though. That is SOP for all/any gun I carry.

Other guns mentioned like the LCR and KLCR (same thing?) seem like winners too, unfortunately, I suffer from large sausage hand syndrome. I would love to carry a Glock 19 but I can't fit my hands in the grooves. My 2nd Gen Glock 17 (no finger grooves) does fit nicely though. In a perfect world, which would have to include a lesser gut, I would carry full size.

Appreciate the comments. Hope more people join in.

I am carrying my M&P Shield. If that goes the way of the Springfield there is the Glock 26. 36, 19. Then we have to move up to the big stuff. ;)

it depends on the "fix"

if i trust it, i'll keep it and carry it, if not, i'll either get another glock or 1911 variant

P238 and an LCR are seeing a lot of carry time these days.

I'll get back to the XDs when it comes back in a year or two......

I don't have one but if I did I think I'd wait until the solution was found, and in the meantime just try and not drop it...
