As earlier posted, I had fired 50 rounds thru my new Millenium, took it apart, cleaned it, put it together right and it jammed-brought back the weapon to the dealer who sent it to Taurus diagnosing a broken trigger mechanism.

Got it back and finally went to the range when a window of time presented itself.

Fired 50 rounds and it performed very well. Somewhere during firing I noticed the magazine releasing so I figured I was holding the weapon wrong (I have big hands) and I was pushing the magazine release buttton by accident when I fired. I made a mental effort to pay attention to my trigger finger, my thumb and my middle, ring and small finger position. The magazine release button is positioned in such a way that the trigger finger could accidently release the magazine upon firing.

After getting the right hand position it felt comfortable to fire and the grouping on the target improved.

Disassembly and assembly went well. It pays to watch disassembly videos available on the internet-I highly recommend that for this weapon. Extremely easy to clean, and my "liking" score is improving. I want to fire at least another 100 rounds until I become truly comfortable with it.

When I bought this weapon, I had looked at Sigs, Berettas and other high end conceal and carry pistols but the price was the factor-how to get a good quality handgun at a reasonable price.

Remember, don't ever give up on a new weapon. Work with it-if something breaks get it fixed and fire it again. Build confidence with it, work with it and don't give up.

No! Never fix a Taurus!

It works way better if you make an internet post about how all their guns suck and then proceed to never buy one again. You should seriously consider buying a new gun that costs more than the money you've already invested and then fix it at some point in the future instead. *le nod*

P.S. My wife is wanting a new gun and has decided to slim her collection down. The only one she can really part with she says is her Taurus Millenium Pro in .45 .... but for some reason I don't see this happening. I laugh.

Nus, I have to disagree.

All gun makes can have problems. For example I purchased last year a Springfield Champion 45 and after 50 rounds I had to get it fixed because a minor part malfunctioned, and now, broken in with over 500 rounds, this weapon has worked flawlessly. Not one problem with it.

My Taurus worked without any problems since the repair and I plan on continuing breaking it in with the 100 rounds planned.

I have read both the good and the bad posts relating to Taurus. The newer models, like the Millenium, have improved in quality. I'm not the type of person to give up that easily.

The hand and finger position relating to the magazine release is just a minor adjustment which can be found with any gun. I love the Springfield Champion because it fits perfectly in my hand just like my military sidearm the 45 when I was in the Army. I retired after 20 years just before the Army switched sidearms. I wish the Army had replaced the old 45s with new ones.

Taurus are good guns when you have nothing else to compare to.

My first handgun was a PT 111 Millennium Pro, the 9mm version of what you have, and I LOVED it. Until I shot a Glock and thought wow... mine has a crappy trigger. Then shot a 1911 and thought wow... then I shot other guns and realize what is out there.

Then I got familiar with the used gun market and realized for the 330 out the door I paid for the Taurus, I can get something else used that has a way better trigger and ergonomics.

Update-my Taurus Millenium fires like a charm now. Ran 400 + rounds through it, works flawlessly and totally broken in; very accurate at an engagement range of 20 feet, center of bull's eye or very close.
Lesson: never give up.

I'm glad you like the Pro. I used to have the MIllenium Pro in .45 as my fist few guns, nutil I tried other guns and decided that there were nigher quality ones. Don't get me wrong, Taurus has good guns. I have the PT1911 that ranks as one of my favorite guns. I am now eyeing the SLim 709.

Stick to you gun, know how to use it and it wil be you formidable weapon. It will outshoot any newbie with a $3000 1911.

Update-My Taurus Millenium PT-138 still sits in my safe collecting dust because after multiple trips to Taurus they still haven't found anyone intelligent enough to realize the crown is mis-cut and that's why it shoots 2 foot groups at 10 yard from a rested position.

Lesson: Don't give up on Taurus. Buy a dozen of them. Out of that 12 you might get one that works right out of the box and doesn't spend 6 months back at Taurus getting fixed.

Yes...every brand has it's problems. But go buy 10,000 Taurus PT-145's, 10,000 Springfield XD45's and 10,000 Glock 45's and tell me which one has the highest failure percentage...

Taurus does make Good Guns... I have several and have never had any failures to speak of... Firearms are like Women and vehicles --- feed them right, take them out to play from time to time, make sure they are serviced on a regular basis and you will have no problems and they will last a long time.....

Springfield....Brazil......Taurus.......umm. Sorry, I usually don't make posts like this. My guns are made in the USA. As are my vehicles. Now....don't get on me for the foreign parts on our vehicles but at least I try.

Taurus has improved dramatically as a company. I understand that they will replace a defective weapon, provided detailed information on the defect or malfunction makes the weapon either unsafe or that it's a plain lemon.
I would recommend FLAvanlanche to send it back with documentation from an armorer and request a replacement.

Yea, I know the XD's are Croatia. I was talking about their 1911's now a days. All great firearms but I still fly my Stars and Stripes in my front yard.

Racinbob ----- I suppose the Computer you are using was ALL Made in the USA Also..... I Don't Think So ..... Might want to Look at the Labels in Your Skivvies Also .....

Yes, if you are comparing the DAO Taurus trigger to Glock. Newer PT145 with SA/DA (No "Pro" next to MILLENNIUM) has much improved trigger. I did a light polish job and it is now lighter and smoother than my seasoned Glocks.

Taurus pistols may trail behind top tier gun manufacturers in fit/finish/QC, but it is not certainly "hopeless" case. If someone is looking for a compact 45, I always have them consider the PT145 as it is comparable in size of slide to G26/27 and grip to G19/23 but with more natural 1911/Sig grip angle and better ergonomics.
