I've been wanting to write a blog article on the subject of "upgrading your AR15" for some time now and finally got around to it today.

http://www.ar15pro.net/2011/02/upgrading-your-ar15-carbine-part-1.html

There are some good rifles out there by some of these other manufacturers that don't make the grade on "the chart". Some are very close to milspec, and even the ones that aren't super close to being "milspec" will benefit from some of these upgrades.

If you are somewhat new to AR15's and are genuinely open to learning something about them, you might take the time to read my thoughts on upgrading you AR15.

I am not looking to offend anyone with my opinions and experiences. I've learned a lot through experiences as well as reading online about the subject. I find that the experiences eventually help you to sift through all of the information out there and find what is valuable or not.

Haven't gotten to it yet, but I've always respected your opinion; even when I'd disagreed with it. I look forward to the read, and I certainly hope that it will help answer so many of the questions that people new to the AR platform have.

That is a very good blog. I'll be sending that link around to some friends that are interested in buying AR's.

Good blog.
I bought a Bushmaster years ago, regretably without first doing the research. I have uprated the extractor spring as you noted and properly staked the gas key.
Looking forward to the rest, pts 2 thru ??
