upsetting cartoons

I thought most of them were worth a chuckle. Non of them seemed to be really for or against guns, just using them as the basis for a joke.

You gott a choose your fights. Choosing any of those cartoons as your fight just doesn't seem worth it.

I think you need to find something else to think about. Most of them are simply in bad taste and show an almost complete lack of understanding. Why worry? As the saying goes - you can't fix stupid.

I don't think these are as big of a deal as you do, Hi Point. The tin cans, mouse, and dog mugger were actually pretty funny.

I thought the mouse one was hilarious. Most of the rest were pretty ignorant though, except for the tin can one.

One problem I had was the one where the dad is saying to let the kid go shoot a few people to get it out of his system, mostly because it was categorized under gangs, gang violence.

Maybe it was a pop music joke, but it didn't seem to match the description. just some poor taste and unfamiliarity.

This thread is a very curious way of advertising for that site.

I know that everyone needs gunsafes, on line firearms dealers and concealed carrry courses but you would think they would find a better way of advertising than a trollish thread.

Hahahaha, my dad has a Far Side coffee mug with a guy standing over the living-room table, smoking shotgun in hand, two pairs of legs sticking up from the bottom of the frame, and his horned-rim-spectacled wife declaring, "that's it, Carl! From now on, you're only getting decaf."

Hi Point 40/45

I think you are completely mistaken about this...Whatever liberals and extremists are, I really do not know...however, I think the authors of these cartoons were simply trying to develop some harmless humor and handguns happened to be used as a subject or a tool in the idea for the humor. I saw no anti-gun statement at all. I think some of them were reasonably clever. I think also that if we really are going to take the high road we should be very, very conservative about using labels like liberals and extremists. I know that currently in our country two very heavily used words are "conservative" and "liberal." Unfortunately these words are used like the words "black" and "white." I believe a lot of this labeling is unfair to groups in general and probably to many individuals. Painting groups of people with a broad brush is usually non-productivbe in my opinion and only contributes to more extreme polarization that seems to exist in our country to a great degree these days. We must find a way to live together with some modicum of tolerance, understanding, and peace. I think one of the first steps is to refrain from labels.
