I just got an email for the US Firearms November newsletter.

Some interesting tidbits...

US Firearms is planning to introduce its own ammunition line. It appears to be mostly "cowboy action" loadings with prices ranging from $30-$35. *yawn* Anyways...

Here is the interesting part that I copy/paste below.

USFA® OFFICERS MODEL® Tactical 1911 45 ACP and
New SHOOTING MASTER™ Magnum Series including the SPARROWHAWK™ scaled frame magnum in .32/.327 Federal

USFA® is proud to announce that a large New England Police Department has requested testing and rapid deployment of USFA's purpose built OFFICERS MODEL® Tactical 45 ACP; has been in the testing and commissioning phase since June 2008. Testing at USFA ranges using “duty” ammo as provided by the department. More to follow as pictures will be available after final sign off next month. This will be USFA's first product directed to the law enforcement market.

USFA is the FN/Herstal- FNH-USA Law Enforcement Rep. for Connecticut. In that capacity USFA delivered on contracts last month to local law enforcement, specifically the Town of Farmington and Town of Canton Police/SWAT departments.

Contact Doug Donnelly at USFA (860-296-7441) for further quotation and delivery on great FN products.

USFA enters Magnum Market with New SHOOTING MASTER™ Magnum Series. Totally redesigned frame and other features. Calibers to be 357 S& W Magnum, New USFA® .41 Short Mag. and .44 S&W Magnum. The first frame style is the 3rd to be engineered in the Series. The #3 Frame, as it is internally known, at USFA®, will be the first in production with the #2 Frame an #1 Frame released in 2009. The #3 will feature an optional interchangeable fibre optic front sight by TRU-GLO® on the newly designed barrel at extra cost.

SPARROWHAWK™ is USFA's scaled magnum frame (a take off on the Sparrowhawk Falcon as the smallest of the Hawk family) specifically made for the .32 cartridge. Available in 2009, in .32 H&R Magnum and .327 Federal in a separate cylinder all fitted in one gun.

Barrel lengths to be 7-½ inch initially in both SHOOTING MASTER™ and SPARROWHAWK™, finished in a tuff and durable CERACOAT® Ceramic with hard chrome lined barrels for long life and easy cleanup after the range or hunting. Colors are numerous. Stand by for more information and pictures in the next USFA newsletter.

Oh it did? And it only took 97 years. I wonder where the XD, USP, M&P, etc. will be in 97 years.

The 1911's popularity speaks for itself. Kimber, Taurus, Rock Island Armory, Ed Brown, USFA, Nighthawk, Springfield Armory, Sig, Colt, Smith & Wesson, Dan Wesson, Les Baer, STI, Para Ordnance, Auto Ordnance, Wilson Combat, Rock River Arms, Charles Daly, etc.

If you want to crap on the 1911 go start your own thread.

This is a topic about US Firearms introducing some new guns and ammuntion.

Anyways:

I wonder if these will be single or double action revolvers? The dual cylinder on the Sparrowhawk leads me to say it would be a single action.

I don't think he's "crapping" on the 1911, rather the business concept of bringing absolutely nothing new to the table at a time when it's not desired by consumers in high numbers.

In the face of a "BAN" on standard capacity magazines; A classic - proven design that holds LESS THAN 10 rounds is a very fine thing indeed.

Anyone who can get a Government contract in this economy is doing well.

:)

Lone Gunman, I wasn't refering to you.

In terms of sales, I would be surprised if USFA sells more than 50 1911's a year. They are a niche player and always have been but they have a niche that they fill better than most others(in the SAA market).

Well you'd better believe that the wondernine manufacturers are busy spitting out as many full capacity mags as they can make. If another AWB comes around, surplus magazines are the only thing that'll keep the market afloat. Otherwise, new purchases will likely shift to the carry models that became very popular during the clinton years.

However, such bans will take a while to navigate through congress and what not. After all, Obama's cronies in Democrat-dominated Illinois have been trying to get an AWB passed for the past two Blagojevich administrations. All attempts have proved futile.

Needless to say, if you like your guns, you'd best join a pro-gun lobbying organization ASAP.
