What happened to US Firearms?

I've tried going to their website, and it keeps sending me to some generic page....as if they never renewed their domain name or something.

Are they still in business?

It would be too bad to see another quality revolver go away. Unfortunately, companies need to make a profit, plain and simple.

Thanks for the new link. Tried Google searches and kept getting the Zip website.

I'd love to get a SAA one day. I love the coloring of USFA's case coloring.

Far as I can tell, the issue with USFA is its eccentric president, not making profit. They've sold every gun they've built and have been backlogged a year on special orders.

I think they tried to go to far. First, it was "enhanced" revolvers, with Turnbuill finishing (which acutally took away from USFA profits), etc, then high grade revision of the Colt 1911, and other stuff that spread them out a little thin. Throw in a demand for the SAA's that wasn't met, and it just got worse. Operating money and manpower only go so far, even if the demand is there.

I hope they don't go under as I have 2 of their fine SA guns. Their workmanship is excellent.

USFA never did their own finish work. Far as I know, Turnbull has always done their finishing.


I think some folks have the misconception that USFA was in financial peril. This is not the case. USFA is the sole proprietorship of Doug Donnelly and the company is simply going in whatever goofy direction he wants it to.

Turnbull sure does nice work at very reasonable prices ($150 for blueing a double action revolver)

I cannot imagine that a relationship with such a company would be anything but a positive.

I have two of their SAA as well. They are excellent in every way. I would love to have one of their 1911 pistols too.

That price for Turnbull's bluing does NOT include prepping or polishing the firearm. Unless you intend to ship them a gun in the white,already polished and ready, check out their polishing prices.

Rest assured that the partnership with Turnbull was the best course for them. It's not like you can just buy color case hardening and charcoal equipment and start turning out finishes as fine as his. Just not economically viable to do those types of finishes as a small manufacturer when you can farm it out to the experts at a fraction of the cost.
