What has happened to Olympic Arms?

The only Oly receiver that was cast was their economy one - the 'plinker' IIRC. I have one built in '84 that still runs just fine, after thousands of rounds.

People forget that Oly was one of the first to make an AR with a rail on the receiver - long before anyone had ever head the word 'Picatinny'.

I have a receiver just like the one in your pix that I bought about the same time as well. I used it to make a Shorty and it's been working just fine after all this time. Not a high end finish or anything like that, but durable and reliable enough for what it was designed to do.

Nope they're still there , I didn't get a chance to ask about the domain thing today . All my Olys work fine and they haven't made/sold cast lowers in quite a while . When I started to read this thread I was almost afraid I had been redirected to ARF.com ..whew ....

The other thing about Oly is that, contrary to an early post in this thread, they do not buy from low-quality subcontractors. Olympic Arms is a big operation, and they make just about everything themselves. In fact, they make a much larger percentage of their parts than many of the "better" name so-called manufacturers of AR-pattern rifles.

I have one of the Plinker models with the cast lower. Nothing wrong with it at all. I haven't put hundreds of thousands of rounds through it, but in the eight or so years I've had it, it hasn't burped once.
