US vs Italian made m9

either, there is no discernible difference other than roll marks.

Given that they're made to the same standards, I wouldn't have a problem with either one.

Unless there is hard evidence one way or the other, I wouldn't mind owning either.

:)

I've had both. The Itialian versions will often retain value a little better, but the USA made version shot better with the ones I owned. Pick 2 different guns and the results might have been reversed.

I bought an Italian 92f in the late 90's. I was told the finish was better. I had to sell it. I bought a new m9 earlier this year. It has an awesome finish and it is just as accurate. I have had zero problems out of either. Save the extra cash for ammo, get an American.

I think they are they same except in the FINISH department where Italian has the edge.

I agree 100%.

A few years ago I bought a 92FS from a guy who had 2 for sale. He bought one for himself and one for his wife, and they ended up not liking them - so they were roughly the same age. One was made in Italy, the other in America.

I bought the Italian one.......and wouldn't have touched the American made one - it was that much "rougher". Easy pick.

I own 1 American and two Italians no difference at all, period.. The only reason I own the Italians is because those models were only built there (type M, A1)

All else being equal, I would go with an Italian, just because a Beretta is supposed to be Italian.
If there is more than about $20 difference in price I'd go American, because there is no REAL difference.

As I think about it I only have one US made 9mm. I have one BHP (made in Belgium and assembled Portugal) and three HKs (made in Germany). Ironically the only American made one I have is my Beretta Nano, a company from Italy.

I just bought a M9 and I had my choice between the Italian model 92fs or the M9 USA. I thought and saw very little difference other than grip and design looks or so I thought. I headed to the range with 250 rounds and had no malfunctions at all, but I noticed that the firing pin hole was not centered. The primer hits are about half way to the edge of the primer. Why is it that way? I think the commercial M9 just might be possible be, military out of spec guns and they might be selling them to civilians for that reason. Not to loose money on milled slide replacement. The reason I bought the m9 was it fit me better and was smooth and I like the sights better. Now I am thinking I should have went with the 92 FS Italy. Called BUSA and they said if you have a misfire, take that round pull the bullet, remove the primer and call us. That's it! If you are looking at the M9 I would look closely at everything. Just a gut feeling here on out of Spec guns.

Owned a 92FS Italian, sold it and bought a 92A1, also Italian. I would stick with the Italian versions because there is a perception (right or wrong) that the Italian made beretta's are better, and therefore they are more desirable on the used market and fetch a higher price.

I wouldn't pay $100 more (as I saw at gun shows during the panic), but I would pay $50 for the Italian version.

I have owned both, there is no difference in anything. Barrels are parkerized on both versions with Beretta's Bruniton on the slide and frames are anodized. The Stainless models are the same with the exception of black controls on US versions. However, the controls on the newer Italian Stainless versions flake off on some pistols. The finest finish I have ever seen on any are the older Stainless 92fs models made in Maryland. They have a straight dust cover and matching silver controls. I haven't seen a lot of them on the used market.

My USA made 92 hasn't been shot as much for as long as I've owned it - 13 yrs or so, but it's well-made, the finish has held up very well, it's smooth shooting and accurate. IMO, Beretta 92s are very much under appreciated.

Just a comment or two about the Berettas in general. I owned the 92FS Italian version and have handled American made ones. My Italian gun had a much finer finish, finer machine work, was smoother in all respects than any of the U.S. made guns I've handled. An acquaintance has a similar Italian version that is as nice as mine was. To me, sorta like the German vs. the U.S. made SIGs. Lots of folks have never handled, much less owned, the all German versions and honestly believe their is no difference, since the "specs" are the same. But "specs" alone don't indicate actual build quality. No offense intended toward anyone, I'm sure the American made Berettas are good, serviceable guns, as are Glocks, etc, but the difference is in the details...ymmv

I have a 92 SBP Italian with a 96 USA Slide.
They look like they were made at the same time. no difference in color or finish and the 96 slide would have to be at least ten years younger.

Turkish all the way! Picked up a Yavuz a while back for $299. Should have bought 3. My friend's m9 slide fit right on top of it. I installed a SS Beretta stamped barrel for grins. The finish and the function is top notch. Much better than Taurus' and equal to American Berettas IMO.

No difference in the finish or workmanship between American and Italian Model 92s that I've been able to discern-and I've shot and handled more than a few of them.
