has anyone ever done this? I have some PMAG 9mm and I was wondering if anyone ever ran 40S&W through them (in an appropriate 40S&W firearm)

I am going to attempt a local competition and I need 4 magazines for it, but only have 3 glock 40S&W mags but I have a few of the PMAG9mm of the same size
I am looking to see if anyone has tried it. I ran 9mm rounds in 40sw mags at first, I had malfunctions that way, but it was good enough to test my reloads at first.

l might just pick up another 40sw magazine, I don't know if you can ever have too many good mags.

Edit: how are the ETS magazines? I see they are cheaper than glock OEM and come in larger capacity but meet the Competition 140mm rules

Never heard of that working, but if you function test it ok and it's just for competition then go for it as a temporary measure. I've heard of a lot more sucess stories running 9mm through .40S&W mags though.

If you have time to order a new mag though, then I'd definitely do that ASAP. No sense spending money on ammo and entry fees and then using make-shift equipment that can tank your score if something malfunctions.

I had a Baretta 96 and used 9 mm mags loaded with 40 S&W ammo and it worked fine. I tried it as a lark and lo and behold the 9 mm mags worked .

With some models, a 9mm mag will work fine -- but will clunk a bit when used -- because the cartridge sets differently in the mag and as it is pushed onto the feed ramp or into the chamber. I'd eventually get some 9mm mags.

I've run 9mm rounds in my FNS-40 (when using a 9mm conversion barrel) and it was OK as long as I didn't try hollow points. (I eventually bought 9mm mags.)

I've had several Witness (CZ pattern) pistols that ran 9mm rounds in .40 mags just fine and vice versa, but the .40 rounds in 9mm mags would clunk a bit.

I found, early on, that older .40 CZ 75B mags wouldn't hold a 9mm round -- the gap was too wide. Don't know if that's still the case, as I don't now have any .40 CZs.

i am going to try with a 9mm mag. If i can get to a range before the match I will test it then, but if not the 9mm mag will be the 4th mag used, which would put me somewhere in the ballpark of 45rds already fired. which seems unlikely to happen in this match.

I tried using the Magpul G17s in a G23. It functioned, but once or twice per mag I'd get a FTF. Could have been the gun, could have been the mags...never fiddled with it enough to get it running flawlessly.

I puts few rounds into two of the mags and after 12 rds the mag started bulging and would not drop free, so I am gonna try it at a range today with 10 rds and see if it works. They won’t be the go to mag,but if I am running low on a stage an extra 10 rds would be nice
