Hey Everyone,
I was hoping that some of you that have used froglube in the past/currently could give me some advice. I bought a hoppes universal pistol cleaning kit and i'm not a fan of the vapors from the chemicals. It doesn't bother me, but my wife hates it, so I'm not a fan either.

Anyway, My question is about how to use it. I assume I need to buy the solvent for the first use. Het everything stripped down to the bare metal with none of the old lube anywhere. Then I heat the parts with a hairdryer and give a light coat with the CLP.

From there I'm confused. the stuff says CLP. How does it actually clean? Isn't that the solvents job? How do I clean after the initial application? Do I need to use the solvent each time and reapply the CLP? Sorry, I'm just real confused about what I should be doing.
Thanks!!!

It's really simple. Don't over think it.

An example of use on an AR: disassemble the Bolt Carrier Group(BCG). Spray gun scrubber or equivalent on the parts and clean them off as best you can. Scrape any carbon deposits off.

Heat the BCG up. I actually prefer using the oven. Set to 180*F. Leave the parts in for around 10 mins. Apply the frog lube and wipe the parts off. This should finish the cleaning process and get everything else out of the BCG. Place back into the oven and when you apply the second coat don't wipe it off. Just set them down and let them cool.

Reassemble the BCG and place back into the upper receiver.

Oh... And relube as needed. If you're doing this on a pistol, just do the barrel and slide where it contacts the frame.

Hopefully, we can get some better info here in Gunsmithing. :)

Have not used FL, the CLPs I've used had the "carrier" doing the cleaning, so after initial set up, more solvent shouldn't be needed. YMMV. ;)

Hey Scrubber,
I just wanted to say thanks for the details. I'm new to the cleaning process so this is definitely appreciated.

i tried it for a while. didn't like it. smells nice though.

if it cleans, i have no idea how. it lubricates decently. doesn't seem to do a significantly better job than slip2k though. so i switched back
