Yep, if the price is good and you want it, grab it.
It wasn't untill mid2ks that QC started getting real sketchy. Before that they we're a pretty reliable choice.

Keep your trigger clean(or switch for an Xmark or aftermarket option), check that the scope mounting holes are straight, and that the magazine box isn't pinched and it should serve well.

Call Remington and see if it has been fitted with the latest and greatest version of the Xmark trigger, then it should be good to go. The original Walker trigger has a bad reputation for accidental discharges and early Xmarks are known for breakage.

There is a lot of hate on the Internet for the 700, but I love mine!

Sounds like one of the special runs sold at Walmart. It won't have the new trigger. Remington has recently agreed to replace them all and I'd not want any Remington made 1946-2006 unless the trigger is replaced. You can buy it and return it to Remington, or just buy an aftermarket trigger. I went with a Timney on my older Remington. It is a 15 minute DIY project.

Those were HEAVY. If you don't mind the weight and are willing to deal with a trigger replacement they are a decent rifle, if the price is right. I'm thinking they sold new for about $300-$350. I had one exactly like that in 30-06. It was accurate, but I didn't keep it long, too heavy for my tastes.

I have several Remington rifles, all bought from 89 thru 98. Only 1 is an ADL, in .243. I replaced the original stock with a McMillan but it shot fine with the factory stock. I have experience no trigger problems and all are very accurate when you find what bullet / powder they like. If you do experience a problem Remington will replace the trigger as already stated. YMMV.

I like long action 700's. The weight makes them more friendly to shoot.
A Timney trigger if a good upgrade. I can't stand the new Xmark pro series.

They’re great! Go for it! I’ve got a 300 HH 700 classic! Had an 06 but I sold it when I got my 721 300 HH.

Price better be around $200, no more than $250, else you might as well buy a new ADL.

If you have a use for a blind mag rifle, it’s a great rifle.

Got a slew of 700's. If it's going in/out of a vehicle, get the BDL/CDL with hinged floorplate. If it's gonna stay loaded condition 2,heck I'll take the ADL. If it's gonna be turned into a SS,make it and ADL.

Like posted above, check pricing on new before plunking down the $$.

Toss the trigger and get a hunter Timney. Set it @2 1/2#'s. Put a decent scope on it and then go kill some game.

I prefer ADLs over the BDLs. I like the blind magazines. And I have owned and now own several model 700s and never had a single problem with the trigger. But I know how to adjust them and keep them clean. That wouldn't be an issue for me. But like others have stated a replacement is free from Remington or for a hundred bucks or so you can change it pretty cheap if it makes you feel better.

I have five 700s two .270s, one .243 and two .223s. Have Timney triggers on three of them. After some simple mods, they all shoot 1/2 MOA with handloads.

Push a patch down the barrel, and if the bore is bright and shiny, it will be a good rifle.

To achieve target grade accuracy you will need to bed the thing and free float the barrel, but as they came from the hardware store, Rem 700's are more than accurate enough to kill a deer.

In so far as the trigger, if the thing is gummed up, I believe it would malfunction. I don't see why carb cleaner and compressed air would not flush the thing out. But it is true that the occasional Walker trigger had malfunctions, and if that really is an issue, Remington will replace it. And there are really reliable triggers such as Timney around.

I have a 700 ADL 30.06 I bought in about 1982, it's a superb shooter. It has some incredible walnut on it too.

This is my last ADL.... it's a 223 for 2019 varmint blasting.Put together a cpl months ago.Getting the parts together for another ADL. 20180914_072746_resized.jpg

Latest 700 ADL is a .223 that I got N.I.B. with scope for about $340 from a salvage retailer in Waterville, ME. Free-floated, pillar bedded before shooting it. Shoots great! The junk scope is still unused because I put a Leupold VX2 on it. If someone's scope fails completely, I'll put the junk on their rifle until something better is available.

Well, rave reviews... good to know.
I think I was wrong on the year , would be a 2003. And now that you mention, I do remember the WalMart ones. Looks like a nice solid rifle.
