Useless Firearms In Your Collection

Heretic, It is poorly made you can see the grip screws and they are original. Fit and Finish is crap. You have to be a power lifter to rack the slide. My son got it from his grandfather that passed and he was famous for buying stuff like this..

Never Owned a Useless Firearm, whats the sense of Owning a Damaged Firearm?
the Ones I own are in 100% A-1 Condition and Ready at a Moments Notice
At My Age I still like going out to the Target Range on a Saturday Morning. and setting up a shooting bench

and shooting a rifle/handgun that helped Shape history is still exciting to me , and So we Can Still enjoy the freedom to go shooting when ever we want and where we want at a public target range

Who owns any useless guns?

These are guns that you like, enjoy shooting, but have to admit you won't ever use them for their intended purposes.

I'm not going to read all 4 pages of responses - but I think that is a dangerous statement.

Anti's are always telling anyone who will listen that "these guns have 1 intended purpose......."

No flame intended - it just makes me uneasy.

All of my firearms shoot as far as I know which is their intended purpose. What you point them at is up to the person pulling the trigger.

None are useless, but there are many that I have never shot.

The closest to a 'useless' gun I own is a NAA .22mag mini revolver. I wouldn't call it completely useless as I get a kick out of shooting it and it is a great CCW when wearing shorts in the summer.

well, not useless but rarely shot is an expensive AR10 that I "had to have"..
the wife teases me about better uses for the money. My son spilled the beans & told her what it cost. I told him I'm willing it to my younger son now :D

Any guns that I considered to be useless, I traded or sold when I either discovered they weren't for me or I decided that I had no use for them.

Over the years, there have probably been less than about five guns that I can remember truly wished I would have never gotten!

Of course, any time I ever traded or sold a gun, I have always taken a loss.

Over the years, I slowly came to the conclusion that I must be happy with what I have and not keep eyeing other guns which I don't need, as most of them would serve the same purpose as a gun(s) I already own.

I have guns that are useful for:
(a) self defense
(b) hunting
(c) modern and vintage military matches
(d) black powder cartridge matches
(e) plinking, target practice, occasional sillouette matches
(f) curios or ornaments
(g) gifts or keepsakes kept for sentimental reasons

I guess the guns that tend to stay in the back of the gun closet are two single shot rifles: a Stevens 73 .22 LR and a Savage 63KM .22 WRF. Like most of this basic model, the original extractors broke; the replacement extractors are apparently better tempered and have stood up since repair, but when I take out a .22 LR it's my Marlin 39 or a .22 Mag it's my Taurus pump.

All of my guns were purchased with their intended purpose in mind, and each has at least served in its intended role for a period. But, I do have guns that no longer "serve" simply because other guns have come along that are better suited for that role (the primary role of these guns being defense.)
Those guns that have been usurped in that role include my Grendel P-10 and my Jennings J-22.

Oh, yeah, I just remembered that someone once gave me a sawed-off (at both ends) 12-guage single-shot. I took it because I was thinking about getting into blueing, but never actually did. I've never shot it, or used it for anything in the 20 years or so I've had it. (It is, by the way, within legal length limits, but just barely.)

none of mine are useless, they all get carried. They hopefully never have to be used to kill a man, but they are made for that intended purpose. Short barrelled large caliber guns, realy have no other use. unless you do some sort of competitive shooting. But Guns like the Glocks and 3 inch 1911's are made for self defense. My Rifles are military style also, so they can be used for target, but were designed for troops.

IMO, the only useless gun, is one which is broken, and can not be repaired. or one which can not be fired because ammunition, and components no longer exist. if it can be fired, it is not a useless weapon.

Hmmmm, let me see.

I have a matched pair of Colt Lord & Lady 22short derringers (single shot), a Ghia Mauser bolt action 12 GA, a H&R .410 shot gun marked 45-70 shot- choke on the barrel and a WWII 37mm AN-M8 flare pistol. I qualify them as usless because they are, as with the Giha, not safe to fire, or the H&R .410, marked confusingly or the flare gun, no shells available. The Colts are basically just decorations...

That being said, I think these qualify!

This would have to be my Barrett M95.

No practical use, but a hell of a lot of fun.

My Golani, for now. Once I have money, I have plans for it:

(1) Cut the barrel down to 16" and have it threaded.

(2) Have an AK optics hardpoint mounted.

(3) Fit a slightly modified AK dustcover to it (they work with very minor fitting).

(4) Get an AR mag adapter.

These four mods will allow me to scope the rifle while cutting down on the weight, and also let me take advantage of the widely available AR / M-16 magazines.

I guess the only useless gun I have is an old parker sxs made between 1860 & 1875 According to the dates stamped on the gun. I always beleived it to be a prototype or something because the dates didnt line up for some reason. Guess I just kept it in the hope that it might be worth something some day. The condition is horrid as it was when my father received it from some one at work in the mid 70's.
A 12 gague shell is a bit too sloppy in the chamber so it might be a 10 gague.

Oddly enough, the most "useless" gun in my collection could someday prove the most needed. It is a 20 ga sxs coach gun, the pattern thus far is literally off the chart. Of course the most useless could also be my Glock 19, my S&W Highway Patrolman with the bent rear sight, or my Ruger MkIII. Depends what is on hand when I need it. Currently, it might be the S&W Brazilian 1917, from which I borrowed the stocks for my Model 28. If'n I really needed to, I could certainly use that revolver, bare metal butt and all, so, wait... What was the question? Oh, yeah. While not every gun in my meager collection is the best tool for the job, what is at hand beats a stern talking-to.
