I have a Vortex Diamondback 4-12 40 scope with the BDC reticle. Being a SFP scope I sight in at 100 yards on the highest power at the primary reticle. Strelok in its scope setup fields asks for "ranging magnification power this reticle was calibrated for". I assume this should be 12, since that is the power I sighted the primary reticle for. Any suggestions?

It might not be 12X.....

Look in your scope manual and it should say at what magnification the subtense is accurate. It's not necessarily the highest magnification, and doesn't have to do with your magnification that you zero'd at.

That's what I thought. But I cannot find that info in the manual or on Vortexs site. Might send them an email. Thanks

Here is what I'm seeing in the manual that could be it.

"This Vortex riflescope uses second focal plane design. The listed BDC yardages will be valid for highest magnifications for most models."

Yup, that's it then, 12X goes into Strelok. When shooting at less than 12X you'll have to let Strelok know IF you're using your reticle for holdovers. If your dialing, it won't make a difference. Since most of the time guys are using subtense at max magnification, and a lot of scopes have that as the reticle correct magnification, it's pretty moot.

Thanks, that's what I thought. I initially had it sat at 6 and was shooting high, so figured that was my error. Very nice BC though, after putting in all the data for weather, yardage, etc you just adjust the magnification in Strelok and it show target ranges.
