Well, I'm finally done with my 597 VTR. The last piece of the puzzle was the side folding stock adapter, which are available from a number of manufacturers and can be quite pricy. Given that it's a rimfire, I decided to give an inexpensive option a shot. I have, thus far, been quite impressed with Leapers/UTG products-especially their US-made pro series handguards & buffer tubes. So I was reasonably confident that their stock adapter would at least be acceptable.

Well, I'm fairly impressed, to be honest. It's nicely finished, pretty light weight and not the least bit chincy. Install is a snap, and it'll work on anything that accepts an AR buffer tube, save for DI ARs, since side folding adapters obviously can't be used in conjunction with conventional DI AR buffers & springs.

A whole $20 on Amazon for this critter.

I stole the product photo from Bing images, but the 597 pics are mine:

If you're looking for such an adapter and don't want to spend a bunch, these are definitely worth it. I prefer US made products, but when they're 5+ times the price, sometimes I'll give the cheaper import a go, especially in an application where the absolute best quality is not essential. This is a rimfire plinker, not a fighting rifle. That said, I see no reason why this adapter wouldn't work fine in more serious use applications.
