And, as usual, the alleged perpetrator was a perfect little angel.......

Richmond teen fatally shot during alleged attempted robbery

Richmond Police are investigating the shooting death of a 14-year-old boy in Church Hill. It happened Sunday night around 11:40 PM at 24th and Fairmount Avenue.

Police are not investigating this as a homicide because they say the man who shot the teenager claims it was in self defense. Police say 14-year-old Rodvon Brown was shot while he attempted to rob a 47-year-old man.

Police also say they recovered a gun that may have belonged to the dying teen.

But, the teenager's family says that's not possible. When asked why Brown was out close to midnight on a Sunday -- they said he snuck out of his room to ride his bike and play with his friends.

He was a good child they say, who may have gotten into mischief, but it was never anything serious. And as far as a gun, “I have never seen a gun,” says the teen’s aunt, Laverne Lewis. “I never seen him to be violent in his life … I don't believe he had one. Can't no one make me believe this.”

Police say the 47-year-old man who shot the teen waited until authorities arrived on the scene and then told them it was self defense. He was questioned and released on his own recognizance.

Granted, the Richmond police have been known to be quick with a drop gun, but the fact that the guy who shot him stuck around and waited for police so he could tell them what happened makes me think they didn't need one in this case.

Snuck out of his room to "ride his bike and play with his friends." At midnight. Uh huh.

I'm sure that he was headed to midnight choir practice and he was minding his own business when it seems that he was set upon by a gun wielding psychotic with malevolent intentions.

Richmond police have been know to shoot themselves with their own guns while bored and blame black teenagers.

Even if you ARE correct, I can't see a career-risking "gun drop" on behalf of a citizen.

The main case that comes to mind is the one where they were chasing the black teen who "accidentally" shot himself square in the back of the head as he was being chased.

Other than that, purely anecdotal -- talking to former cops.

"Can't no one make me believe this.”

I am a pretty loyal fellow to friends and family. It would take pretty convincing evidence for me to believe that one of them did some sort of serious crime. They get the benefit of the doubt and most of the breaks, in my book.

However, there is some quantity/quality of evidence that could make me believe, say, "Bob" is guilty of whatever. I mean, if the cops have footage of "Bob" in his car blowing hot on the breathalyzer, with a dead girl in the trunk, a live goat in the back seat and "Bob" wearing nothing but a chartreuse tutu and a light coat of oil...I'm thinkin' "Bob's" story of being on his way to volunteer at the soup kitchen might be thin. It might be time to advise "Bob" to cut a deal on the animal cruelty charge and take his time like a man. Or like a ballerina. His choice.

Of course. He was just out playing with his friends. How sweet.

They have never seen him violent and he's out of the house at midnight on a school night and his friends are out as well.

After 10 years in the criminal justice system I offer the following translation for THR:

"I don't give a crap about my kid because I'm on the couch eating Cheetoes and waiting for my government check so I've never seen the two dozen warning signs that he has for juvenile delinquency. He comes and goes as he pleases because I am too high to care at any time of the day as he most certainly does not have a job. His friends, members of the 2-1 Ice Dogs, will keep him out of trouble."

The verdict: another wannabe gangbang met cosmic justice and got what he sought--an early, painful death as his parents abandoned him at birth wiith wilful and wanton neglect that only the Welfare State can produce.

Indeed Tejon.

Going out to ride a bike...bah!

Besides, he "Snuck out" and yet SHE KNOWS wherer he was goign and what he was going to do? That doesn not make any sense.

Must have ESP.

Snuck out to ride his bike? At midnight? :scrutiny:

Nothing good goes on after 11:00

Who wants to take bets that he was on welfare and failing school.

"He was a good child they say, who may have gotten into mischief, but it was never anything serious. And as far as a gun, “I have never seen a gun,” says the teen’s aunt, Laverne Lewis. “I never seen him to be violent in his life … I don't believe he had one. Can't no one make me believe this.”"

Where the :cuss: is his mother and father? In prison on drug charges, of course :banghead:

True im afraid, as the corner store closes at 11:00, and the only time i ever go out to walk aroudn that time si to go to the corner store.

Tejon, I knew you were a good, smart guy - but I didn't know you were brilliant and needed to be elected to office.
Its my considered opinion that election to office immediately brings about a loss of at least 50 IQ points... Some sort of occupational hazard?

If elected, Tejon might still be brilliant, but significantly LESS so.
