Thanks for the quick reply Winchester 73, thats what I thought but why wouldn't you say, if stopped, that you are traveling to a state(final destination)
that allows you to exercise your 2nd Amendment rights(self) protection. When
I got my FL ccw, I was asked why use for their permit and I said self defense,
so isn't that a lawful purpose at my destination? Coming back to NJ from FL, I
could use "going to the range", but depends at the time of day. The same
situation holds true if I was going to Vermont, NH or Maine via NYS. Another
problem, suppose I want to go the FL, Alaska, etc via air. If I check in my
handgun at the airport, I would be subject to arrest, wouldn't I? It seems that
the anti-gun law makers in NJ really have this issue leveraged in their favor. I realize that any comments on this or any forum doesn't imply the letter of the
law but gives us opinions that we might be able to clarify with the proper legal
folks.
