Well friends I start vacation Wednesday morning. I plan on catching up on yard and house work for a few days, fixing the water pump on the boat motor and going fishing for a few days and reloading and shooting adn getting ready for hunting season. The question is this,

I have supplies to load 50 50-90 sharps, 50 12 ga, and about 2k 38 super. I have a hunting load worked up for the 50-90 I still am working on the 12 ga and 38 super is squared away. I plan on loading them all and storing what I dont shoot the real question is being low on funds and likely needing all the shot gun shells for hunting(turkey) but not having a good load worked up yet. At what point do I stop load development and gust go with what I have?

The 50-90 I plan on shooting about 10 for general practice and fun and saving 40 for deer season

the 38 super is just idpa practice and 2k will hold me for about a year not counting matches.

Your opinions please?

If you can load at the range or shoot at home this will work. Load 2 and shoot them at a patterning board and a realistic distance(I have no clue). Check the pattern and adjust the load a little and fire 2 more rounds. Rinse, lather, repeat till desired results found. Make sure when you fire a round that it is a good shot, and this could work. This is not, I'm sure, the reccommended way to do it, but for your circumstances it may well have to work.
If you have to load them up at home and go to the range, load 2 in small increments going up and keep good notes. When you find a good load stop and tear down the rest so you can load the most shells with what you have left.

DISCLAIMER: I do not load shotgun, but it makes sense to me. Good luck.

On loading for turkey? Include buffer and your patterns will improve. Factor the weight of the buffer in so you don't exceed pressure. I like #4 shot for gobblers. To be honest, I use so few turkey loads, I just buy them, but if you want you could try a couple different 2oz loads and see what patterns the best.

For me, it would be the other way around. 40 for general practice and fun and 10 for deer season. I only have 2 tags this year so 10 rounds is plenty. If I can't fill my 2 tags with 10 rounds, I probably better start over shooting cans with a pellet gun.

No pun intended, of course.

Cheers

I get to but bonus tags, I plan on 8 deer but if the money is good(as in friends hand me some cash in exchange for meat) I could go on all season.

good thought I can load at the bench no big deal. I am loading black powder though with brass shot shells(as in no plastic) I have been running no. 6 shot.
