value of 303 savage

i have a savage lever gun chambered in 303 savage, the wood is poor, metal is 100% and bore is perfect, i also wonder if it would be a good idea to have the stock professionally refinished

i know for a fact that it isnt a model 99, i dont have the gun right now so i cant look at it. im pretty sure it has some collector value so i hesitate to have the stocks redone and wonder if that will devalue it
