I was wondering if anyone can saying anything about the value of using one of those Winchester Traps in practicing for trap competition. I bought one because I didn't want to join the local club after not shooting for 9-10 years. The first time out I did terrible, but subsequently I've been hitting about now less than 43 of 50, usually closer to 47, once 49. I turned the strength up much stronger so hopefully it'll be more challenging now.

I worry that pulling the string and then getting the gun ready will instill bad habits, but when I had someone else doing it for me the other day I was doing just as good.

Anything I can do besides going for one of the $300 automated ones?

Obviously I'll have to start playing for real again soon, I just wanted to make sure I was doing well enough that I wouldn't embarrass myself. I want to be able to practice whenever I have time, too, not just when the local club is open, because I do want to get serious about it and I would think more rounds in a different set-up is better than fewer rounds in a 'real' set up.

Today I did 47/50 singles and 47/50 doubles with my mossberg 500 pump. It seems that this thing must be too easy, even with the power turned up as high as I could get it to go without breaking too many, I feel like I'm not missing enough.

Agreed?
