What's the market value for this Piece in an unfired~pristine condition with the factory matching box and documents? The Gun has a 2.5" barrel. Serial Number prefix is: 77K8***.

Thanks for any input and/or info.

Hello Jeff,

Thanks for the Links and your quick reply. I'll need to frequent GB more often now.

I failed to mention that the subject 66 also has a beautiful set of very thick "vintage shaped" Elephant Ivory grips and the Gun sports full cover (not factory) engraving.

Guess that increases the value a bit? Sorry for not being clear in my initial post.

If they are real Ivory grips you could probably add $100 to the price. If you were to offer them $600 for everything it would be a fair price for both of you.

If the grips were mine....

and they are truly ivory, I wouldn't sell them with the gun. I would offer them separate from the Model 66. Ivory grips go for major bucks on auction sites like eBay.

Yes, I should start looking for one. Seems most of the little 66 buggers have short barrels. Either they made more of them or people tend to keep the 4-inchers! Six-inchers also are rare. When it comes to 6-inch .357s, it's hard to beat the Ruger Security-Six in stainless. I have two of 'em, but they're FBI Academy commemoratives I got at a great price and to tell the truth I'd rather have them not be commemoratives! I saw some sort of sheriff's commemorative at GunBrokers, but I'd prefer a standard.

I have an old gun magazine where a hack called the 66 ugly. I only hope the SOB is still alive so he can set his peepers on the current crop of Smith & Wessons. It's like seeing your high school sweetheart 30 years later. Uuuuugh.

I would love to find a 2" Model 66 at a price I could handle.

Does anyone have a link to a site which has listings explaining the older K Model S&W's. I'm confused about the older Models like the 15, 19, 64, 65, 66 and 67.

Thank you!!

I'm confused about the older Models like the 15, 19, 64, 65, 66 and 67

The numbers are confusing, but they are very similar. Some are actually the same.
Such as the Model 66 is the stainless version of the model 19.
Both are 6 shot "K" frame .357 magnums. (adjustable rear site)

The model 67 is the stainless version of the model 15.
Both are "K" frame .38 specials. (adjustable rear site)

The model 64 is the Stainless version of the model 10.
Both are fixed site .38 special "K" frames.

The model 65 is the stainless version of the model 13.
Both are generally fixed site "K" frame .357 guns.
