Has anyone done this? I can't find any load data on the shotgun powders in a handgun application. Looking at the burn rate chart, it shows 206 V to be comparable to HP38 and 231 while Prima V and Prima AS comparable to Titegroup, Zip, and Accurate 2.

I called Graf and they said they have no info on using Vectan shotgun powders in handgun applications.

Here's Vectan load data - http://www.lhs-germany.de/uploads/media/VECTAN_Poudres_and_Passions_Reloading_Data_2014_01.pdf

Another version of load data with English/grains first - https://www.grafs.com/uploads/technical-resource-pdf-file/20.pdf

Below is my compilation of "relative" burn rate powders based on Vectan/Hodgdon burn rate charts and available pistol load data (I did not include shotgun powders I could not find pistol applications for) - http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?p=9936770#post9936770

Why not use Vectan powders with published pistol load data like BA9 1/2, A1, BA9, A0 until we have more verified pistol loads with Vectan shotgun powders? I hope this helps.

Found all the same data. The same reason that reloaders are using shotgun powders for handgun applications: because pistol powders are hard to come by right now.

Vectan shotgun powders are readily available while their pistol powders are all out of stock and disappear quickly when in stock.

More and more popular pistol powders are coming back in stock so it will be matter of time before you find some favored powders (so far I have restocked all of my pistol powders except for Promo) utilizing "Where are there reloading components" thread - http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=707473&page=130

I am looking for Solo 1000/American Select to conduct some pistol load development but there are tried and true loads already circulating that I can reference.

While you could work up pistol loads with Vectan shotgun powders, you will be pioneering uncharted territory. Even "really out there" reloaders who use every conceivable powders for their match loads (like E2) on BE forum seemed to have stayed with Vectan pistol powders with published load data - https://www.google.com/search?q=bri...vectan+shotgun+powders+site:www.brianenos.com

I tried to find some forum threads where someone developed pistol loads from Vectan shotgun powders but really could not find any.

Same thing on Castboolits forum - https://www.google.com/search?q=vec...or+pistol+loads+site:castboolits.gunloads.com

If you are successful with your load development, keep us posted.

They are for large inventory retailers, but they are still nonexistent for dealers like me who are small or in rural areas. The powders are going straight to the big guys when they come available, so the small guys like myself are looking for ways to keep products in stock.

Trying to see if there are powders that are being overlooked by the big boys than can still be used in other applications.
