Hornady Mak. 9x18mm "Personel Defense" Ammo

I bought the above today at Academy Sports @ $21.99 (plus tax) for 25 rds. When I called this AM, they had 4 boxes. When I got there in the PM, they only had 2 left.

That's too bad that they don't just answer the phone. Look up their local number in Grand Island NE.

On a side note their facility is amazing. They give tours on a walk in basis and the people there are all awesome. I was like a kid in a candy store.

Well I bought a Hornady LNL press and at first I had a few problems but at the moment it working well.
When I did break some thing I rang just after there lunch break I got some one straight away who went out of his way to arrange the parts to me in Australia which I thought was excellent and also included some extra parts when I gave him the serial number of my press.
It seems they up date some parts that are reported on warranty over a period of time to make improvements to those items.
Hey what can I say for the price I paid also extra items plus shipping from the USA which worked out a cheaper than what I could have bought locally .
So I am happy. Its better than my three Load Masters.

I'd cut them some slack , after all, they're the only ones making, presses, prep stations, scales , trimmers, dies, bullets , brass, ammo , books, ect ect , no one else dose as much as Hornady dose . not the green guys , not the blue guys , or the orange guys , and how many new-bees got stuff for Christmas that are now calling , asking this and that ..

Hornady

Hey, can anyone tell me what this thread is about? :D
Appears to be about reloading ammo and equipment, which I have no interest in, but no objections for others who do. I got one response to a question re: Hornady commercial ammo. One anatomical portion of an underground tuber and a parental unit of a girl seem to be having more fun than they should at the expense of the rest of those viewing this thread.:(:(:(

Ya sarcasm does not translate real well over the world wide inenterweb. I started this whole thing just lamenting how sad it is that a company with such great service and a great sense of humor has been forced to change their automated phone answering system to sound all professional and stuff.

I would complain about how I am going to have to wait a whole two -three weeks to get my new press from them that is only going to cost me an old Pro-Jector plus $200.00 but I think people would take me serious. Because really how can you complain about that, its a screaming deal even if it takes four - six weeks to get the new press.

As far as asking about factory ammo I am not sure you will find much here, were all re-loaders after all, what would we know about factory ammo?:D

No it was only about Hornadys former, funny phone message but got severely dis railed.

No more no less.
opps , my bad ,, I thought he call for service and not just to hear there phone message ,

As far as I am concerned their CS leaves nothing on the table, like RCBS they are truly a model of quality service. If more companies had CS like that I don't think any one would mind paying a premium for products.

Its the same thing with my Snap-On and Matco tools, the guy on the truck just hands me a new one or orders a new one, they don't even ask how. But you pay a premium for their tools and that service. And in my mind and experience it is well worth it, just like paying the premium for the press and dies and any thing else I buy from Hornady.

My experience with Hornady CS has been just the opposite. I will not do business with them or buy their products again.

i bought a 6.5 creedmoor loading die and 200 brass off of them. i got the brass and then two week later, the dies show up. then in august i bought a 20 vartarg dies, bullets and brass. i am still waiting for the die. i think redding is going to get my business. luckily, nosler ballistic tips work for a bunch of different calibers.

While I understand the point of the OP, I want to toss in my $.02 regarding the other complaints. I've had great service from Hornady. You have to listen to a little lecture on how not to screw up again, and then they send the part out to you. Only had one guy give me a bit of an attitude when telling me the part wouldn't ship out until after Christmas - like that was a surprise given that I was calling on 23 Dec. I do understand the frustration if you are ordering a new piece of equipment. They seem to produce stuff in batches and sometimes you have to wait a couple months before it gets back in stock. That tells me that there is a hell of a demand for their products. How many people would quit shooting .22LR forever just because it's out of stock right now?

Is Hornady going under? Hard to believe that they can't make money making bullets these days. I use some of their products, especially the cannelure bullets for my AR-10. Sad to hear that they can't get their customer service in good order.

After shooting true match grade bullets and seeing the accuracy my rifles "can" get it's hard to use so-so bullets. Some of the Hornady bullets are so-so. I do like their cannelured bullets and will continue to purchase them.

I must have missed it. Where did you hear Hornady is going under?

Wow talk about a thread that has totally be de railed and has no topic.

Kind a Like the Seinfeld show, a show about nothing:uhoh:

Cool, hopefully you will have a new press soon. Mine is supposed to arrive tomorrow at Hornady according to UPS. I feel like a little kid waiting on Christmas. I have already bought the LnL conversion for my Rock Chuckar so I can use the bushings in it.

Now I just need to find a way to store the dies with the bushings in them.

Grubby, since this thread got derailed a long time ago -- let's continue ---
my old press won't get to Hornady until Friday, so I'll probably get the new one by the end of the month. I am also sending in 3 of the old style shell plates for conversion to the new system. I know that the shell plates will take longer, but for $10 instead of $30, it's a good deal.
As to the die with bushing storage -- they do fit in the RCBS boxes, and the newer Hornady boxes. In the round Lee containers -- not so much, same for the Lee rectangular boxes.
Were you set up for case activated powder drop on the Projector? If not, then I think you will like the case activated powder drop with the LNL.
On the PTX, or expanding powder through dies, there seems to be an even split on whether folks like that or not. I'm not currently using the PTX on my powder measure. What I am going to try is to build up a set of non-expanding powder through adapters to enable me to quickly change the powder measure without having to readjust it for each caliber swap. Cfullgraf was kind enough to provide me some drawings and dimensions on how he made his set.

OH, and now back to the OT -- I think next time I call Hornady, I will mention that WE WANT the old customer service system back!
