Got a brandnew Marlin 410 on 10-26-2011. Loaded up some shells right from the get go trouble feeding shells of all brand names from loading tube to chamber. Marlin issued a call tag. Just got the gun back today still not feeding shells of all types. called Marlin up told them I wanted a refund. Just faxed my receipt and sent the gun back to Ilion, Ny to marlins repair center. Gal said that after they got gun up in Ilion they would issue me a check. I will never have a new Marlin again in my life time that is for sure....:fire::fire::fire:

What a shame. Marlin customer service used to be excellent before they closed the CT plant.

Malfunctioning guns suck, big time, I know. (Look up my posting history here...)

But, honestly, compared to my experiences with Beretta, and to a lesser extent Ruger, I think Marlin's customer service sounds pretty good in this circumstance.

Or, in other words, I wish Beretta was that accomodating. :)

Man oh man are ya right on that one . If a person has an older or even a Marlin that works better hang onto it for sure....

It sounds to me that their customer service is OK, after all, they are giving you a refund. Their products lately are what are lacking. I would not buy a new Marlin Lever gun, plenty of good used ones on the market.

The gal got pretty high and mighty with me even hung up on me. I called right back a 2nd time. Customer service didn't hang up on me that time. I guess she thot I was some stupid o'le man-Not!!!!

Roklok -ya hit the nail on the head on that one. iwill just have to wait and see if and when I get the check. Anymore Marlins will be older ones for this boy or at leasused ones......

The only thing Remington has done A good job of is destroying the reputation of A once fine firearms maker.I'm glad I have enough of the old ones to last me and my son for the rest of our lives.

They gave you a refund without a hassle after only one attempt to fix the gun? To me that sounds like excellent customer service. With most companies, good luck getting a refund at any point in time.

If he actually does get the refund.

I've only dealt with the customer service department once since the change over. I had an older Marlin .22 mag in synthetic stock that had some chips coming loose off the synthetic stock.

They sent me a new one with no questions asked except my address. Seemed like good customer service but maybe I just got lucky

Badlander- that was great.:) I loved it. Man ya couldn't of said it any better. I am going to send a letter to the head folks about how the gal hanged up on me at Marlin. I just turned around and called right back. I sure am glad when I was in sales I took better care of my customer base and had some pride in the product I, or the company sold.....

Is Cerberus Capitol Management Headed in N.Y.C.?

I want to call them as well and voice a complaint about PI$$ poor service that is pushing Marlin, Remington, into the ground for sure. I got a NewYork # for them. I do see where Marlin is part of A Freedom Group Company. I get so upset with Co's that donot care about small man or customer base. For it is the small man or customer that can make or break a company in sales vol in the end....

Always use american express. They work out on situations like that like a pack of Hindu pit bulls. If the vendor will not take AE, beware.

Bad news guys, Marlins QC, and CS, was worthless before the take over. Which saddened me because I, would like a 45-70, lever, but will not wast the time being a victim of theirs again.

yeah, I hope mine never breaks. Their ppl are useless, too. Won't answer questions, rude..etc.. been trying to get an extra magazine for my rifle, comp for pistol.. but they'll be damned if they help me get one of either. And plenty of people want them and pay out the wazoo for them!!

Sorry, can't speak for Marlin though. I've heard their CS was superb, though.

Most of the old American gun Co's (Winchester and Remington at least) seem to have sold out to the corporate devil and are destroying themselves.

To be honest I think it's Savage that has put the bite on Marlin.
I don't know. I may be wrong, but I always thought of their leverguns as being Marlin's bread-n-butter and AFAIK there's nobody new horning in on that market recently.

It isn't Savage that is killing Marlin. It's basicly commiting suicide. No outside help needed
I have to agree. Its not competition that's killing Marlin, its misguided bean counters and horribly poor managment decision within the company itself that have destroyed both their products quality and their reputation. I can't imagine any informed customer is still buying new Marlin guns these days. I seriously want a new 336 but I'm going to be trying to pick up a gently used gun instead becuase I simply can't count of getting a functioning gun-shaped object from Marlin any more, let alone a quality firearm. :(

This is really really sad to hear.

Marlin was once the BEST in CS and was known for the people on the other end of the phone knowing their products.

Sad days indeed.

Blame the guys counting money over at Cerberus Capital Management.

They won't be counting it long if they keep turning out 2nd rate
products and following up with lousy customer service.

I just had ruger replace a P97 with a small frame crack with a brand new P345, free of charge. I have not had a problem with them, I just sent my sr556 bolt in because of a crack, and they are replacing that free too. It could be that it is not the company all the time just one moron customer service butt-hole who should not be helping people. More than once I have had this happen.

I had a problem with zales one time. I had bought a ring once for my wife and had to have it sized. Now I'm a mechanic and half the time I'm dirty and look like a lowlife. I do have a decent vocabulary though. When we got the ring back it was cracked. I pointed it out to the manager and in an up-tight, I'm better than you way he told me to get lost. So I did. I went home and found the Headquarters phone # and called them.

They apologized profusely even gave me a $200 gift card(the ring was $3000) and promised that this would never happen aqain. They told me to go back to the store and it will get fixed immediately! By the time I got there the next day, the new manager knowing who I was had it fixed in less than an hour. She also explained to me that the other manager had been fired and that this was not the first time he had been an ass to a customer.

I would always call the head office if you have a problem, It seems to get the right people's attention. You can also get a moron fired! I always have a good time when a service agent treats me like dirt. I show them just how dirty I am!
